This happened a few updates before Roman, right ?

Brief (1 day) results, than they dissapeared... And after a few weeks, the update came...

    Dammit.. you're right, you know.

Ok, how many of us are there? And exactly HOW good are the defenses at G's headquarters? I mean, yeah, they're rich and all, but do you really think they could have possibly purchased the small army they would need to defend themselves against all of us? I mean, if we rush the building at once?

If we can't take down the datacenters, I bet we could grab Sergy and Brin if we tried...

Ok, who's with me??? It's LYNCHING TIME!!!! ARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!

I think the word 'free' in the name "Free Web Index Directory" is appropriate. Free means much more than just no cost. Free is also described as unconstrained; unconfined which accurately describes this directory. The Free Web Index Directory is not confined to just one particular subject or topic.

Personally, I like to see creativity on the web. Choosing paid-web-directory.com for your domain name just because it is a paid web directory is lame not to mention uninviting.

BTW, chains has an s not a z on the end which is also misleading since the word 'chains' doesn't necessarily refer to jewelry.

Just my humble opinion while I wait for actual pr news but aren't directories designed for the end user - I mean the 'point' is supposed to be for those wanting to find information NOT for those listing in them so with that into consideration - free directory might be a little off since most directories are free for people to use (a point already made here) but it's not misleading to the general pubic at all - it's free to use, it's a directory.

The only reason that people here would get so wound up is that our mind set is advertising, submissions, seo etc., but that isn't the purpose of a directory. It may seem misleading (to US) but it's not exactly freak out time is it?

It would almost have to be, I think his domain was registered in January, the 04/04 update was actually the one that started in Feb and took over a month to finish...

So, seeing backlinks for your site too:

Did you gain 7 backlinks or lose them? This is normal, PR updates are also BL updates as well... but what isn't normal is for some sites to change while others stay the same. I mean, yeah, PR staying the same happens, but I don't think I've ever seen one persons backlinks update and someone elses not, but that is what seems to be happening here.

Almost looks like that for the first time G is updating part of the web at a time... totally weird.

Expertu... I have a site that a (many actually) page turned PR3 last update, totally undeserved... so far, in little blips, I have seen it go to PR0 (which is what I would have expected, since the page before it was uncached during the snapshot I think they are using for this update (unless they changed that)), and a PR2, which is both new, unexpected, and what, of course, I'd prefer it to be.

    Yes Expertu, 04/04 ;)
I wrote earlier in this thread that I think google is DownGrading PRs of last update mainly...

    edit
    I had 7 backlinks reported after 04/04 mvandemar :)

This website is not very SEOed, I didnt make any efforts of gaining real links, the clients were people that were not able to afford any kind of backlink building(not buying links, not paying me to add links).. So what I only did - DP coop for a short time ;)

Yeah ... This funny and weird update was NOT a usual one .. I think it was meant to fix the old 04/04 update, and that's why the older websites (that had PR even before the 04/04 update) have not seen any change ..

But now that it only lasted 1 day, I have to ask.. Is Google broken ? :D :D :D

I remember seeing this in March. And I think it happened on the two prior updates as well. I think Google is increasingly becoming comfortable with using a couple of production DCs as a sort of final-tier test environment. And when the test shows that more tweaks are needed, the pull out, tweak, and then redeploy.

    No they are not..
But I think they are updating something very major..
All these movement seem to be a part of some kind of experiment..
PR for different datacenter are keep moving all the day for different sites..
We can assume that they are fixing the old mistakes...

Reminds me a bit of the debacle called "Jagger". Not the results per-se, but the means in which it was rolled out.

It gives one the impression of having to go back to "square one" before being able to complete the update.

Hm... similar maybe, but wasn't Jagger rolled out to diff DC's separately, but each DC affected ALL sites in it with each change?

Article site, as in the one mentioned in Post #1?

So, you read the first page, maybe the second as well, and hit reply? Unfrigginbelievable, yet somehow, true...?

Relax, they said the site: operator was fixed iirc, and it wasn't billions of pages. We're still waiting on official word from them, then we can do a recount.

If it's fixed, why is the site: operator screwed up on Google.com and works on the datacenter. My hemroids are more fixed that Google is.
