Roman, you can't compare subjective claims to absolute ones, it's just not the same.

My PR remains the same. Now that that's said...

For the folks too cowardly to stand up for their anon rep comments, I'll address them here...

    and...
Nice. How about pointing out what you disagree with and why. Either that or grow some stones and stand up for your comments. Afraid I'll play the same childish game? Grow up.

Of course he's welcome to charge for submission. Advertising "free" as the hook and then pointing out that that you have to pay once you get there is what is deceptive. If his intent was in no way to deceive people, and he doesn't want to be deceptive, he'd have removed the "free" already. The fact that he hasn't means he quite frankly doesn't care if it's deceptive. His choice.

Why? If there's something I quoted is in error, or misquoted, by all means point it out and correct me.

Roman... who said ANYTHING about lawsuit? Certainly not I. I pointed to authoratative information. No more no less. ANYONE running a business would be wise to know the information. Whether or not they heed it is up to them.

You are mistaken Roman. A text link is considered an "advertisement". Second, no, the name is not "Free Web Index Directory". "Directory" is not in the name nor is it used anywhere on the home page. You're barking up the wrong tree.

There is no claim, just a directory name.

'Free' can describe 'web' as it precedes it. I've heard the web called the 'free web' before. But again, good luck, if you get anywhere do let me know, I'll research it more in depth and find a bunch of people and/or companies to sue.

Don't worry amitpatel... it's not that the link you clicked on was deceiving... it's only the name of the thread...

If you are not being deceptive or misleading you are at least naive and foolish. You are not some newbie who fell off the truck. You are a pretty succesful webmaster from what I have gathered, and sorry if I don't buy your story. For you to not know that free might be misleading is just not believable. The only other option is ignorance, and I know that is not true.

I don't care what domain you have or what you do with it. Just don't try to sell people a bill of goods when they bring it up. You could have just said I liked the domain name. Instead you got into this story how it is free to the visitors, and that is simply rationalization of doing something wrong or misleading.

The world is full of people trying to mislead others... Them are the ropes. Just don't add insult to injury by denying it when someone calls you on it.

Rationalizing does make it seem worse... probably would have gotten much less attention if you had just felt secure in your actions and not defended them. I'm guessing if you don't reply to any more of these, it dies within 4 to 5 more posts about it, and it will be new people coming in or others defending you that carries it even that far.

I have been on othe web master messageboards but left since people were rude and offensive and then I found DP and thought it was kind of a nice board, but this thread is getting out of hand and doesn't seems to have anything with Google page rank to do anymore, so why not close it?

Aeiouy, I want to stress out the fact that I don't see anything wrong in Chris's attitude towards his visitors.

He has choosen a domain name with a "free" word in it.. So what ? he doesn't claim that he offers free listings and at the end of the submission the visitor finds out that it's paid right ?

You do know relatively, because I think he deals with half of this forums sellers.

I discussed with him in private, and he didn't received any complaints from any of his visitors, that would point out that he's misleading them.. I'm not saying that this makes it OK, but it's a factor.

I know him fairly well too and he has enough money.. He wouldn't go misleading people for just another 5 bucks..

Please remember, this is not personal. It's just my experience with him.

And yes Mike .. This thread should be closed ..

That's the problem, they started an update and thus this update thread started, then they took everything back leaving us with a bunch of free time while we expect something to happen any minute.

    Damn G.
