I was wondering if there was a program out there that you can use to click on people's adword ads... like maybe with a proxy list or something... i was just curios because a few times I have run adwords and got a lot of clicks really fast, but no leads from it...

Google has checks and balances to detect click fraud e.g. - http://adwords.blogspot.com/2007/04/new-case-study-on-botnet-based-click.html

If you have a serious reason to think that you have been the victim of click fraud, you shoud send all the details to google and ask them to investigate. However, the fact that people clicked on your ad, but then didn't like the offer, isn't in itself proof of fraud.

    Hi Chris

Were you able to see what keywords triggered the clicks? Or do you mean you were using the content network (not advisable unless you know what you're doing)? DIi you track which sites the clicks were coming from?

Without being able to tell which keywords or sites triggered it, this would be hard to tell.

Well I think google has a solution for controlling this case, so that the advertiser don't get fraud click like that.

My advice - don't trust the big evil. They will not always look out for the customers best interest, this is clear.

The good news, there is a way to block up to 20 ip's in adwords.
Go to 'tools' --> IP exclusion --> choose the campaign ---> enter the IP's.

I think once you start really monitoring your traffic you will see the common culprits from plano tx, etc.... Just block them from being served ads.

It's not too hard to see the scrapers and spammers, especially if your using good PPC tracking software. Blocking these losers can quickly improve your conversion rate.

Try adwatcher, it will actually redirect visitors if they click your ads too often (you specify how often) to a warning saying their IP address has been logged. I use it all the time, some of my clients' markets are very competitive.

I find it can depend on how competative the market is that you are advertising in. If it is very competative then you can have a lot of people browsing and not realising they are licking on adverts. Just my opinion.

    Some good advice aboe though.

zartog do you lick your computer monitor ;-)? You will find that most of the time your competitors are just finding out what your offering and who you are. I have recently felt the same in that people are click bombing my adverts so I emailed google and they sent back a nice template response but shortly after things returned to normal. Maybe they have a magic switch or something...if it carries on email the investigation team at google and they will look into it.

Was this from search or contextual? Contextual traffic is never good unless you constantly remove crappy domains. If it's search, there may be something fishy going on. There are ways to drain your competitors budgets without any sort of paper trail.

Why would you want to defraud advertisers? I might as well come by your house tonight and rob you; since it seems ethical to you.

I think it's easy for google to distinguish between fraud clicks and valid clicks. Triggering keywords is just one way of it.

Have you ever tried reading a thread before you comment on it? This is clearly a thread about an adwords advertiser being concerned about click-fraud.
