Lol, nice n funny thread :D
You are lucky because other people can drive traffic but cannot make websites or they would preffer to outsource the work, but I don't think you have some real problem that can't be solved about driving traffic and marketing/advertising/promoting products.
You just need to learn more, implement, experiment and you will be able to overcome anything.

    Good luck.

I dont know if that is having luck...you waste much more time and effort making websites than marketing...
Its very frustrating making websites you have to send to garbage after a year just because they're more dead than saddam...

I think all marketing strategies can work effectively, although luck can somehow help. But then, it's more of finding the right one for you. It's a trial and error process, and what works for A may not work for B. You cannot just try all of them simultaneously. You need to analyze one before going into it.

It's also better if you find someone who has the same niche as yours, and compare how he is doing it successfully. But of course, it requires patience - a lot of them.

    Hope that helps.

everyone is good at doing certain things and it appears that you are good at making websites which is also a good skill. for marketing, you can outsource or educate yourself more. not very hard actually

Just outsource the work. I can get your site ranking quite well in a matter of only a few months. PM me if interested.

I find the marketing side of things very tiring and tedious.

I think I write good content but the marketing is a hassle.

I have made some friends but don't have anything like floods of traffic.

Perhaps I just haven't found the right way to do thing yet.

Dont worry, take your time and have patience. It took me along time to realize that myself. What are you trying to sell?

I would say if you're not getting any traffic then you're really not marketing but possibly just throwing stuff against the wall hoping some of it will stick. Go Google and search for marketing (free) or any variation you can think of and you'll find enough free material that you should be able to get started with real marketing.

This thread actually sparked me to write a post on my blog. I won't post the link since I'm not looking to stray the thread, so I'll bring up most of my points here...

Networking is incredibly powerful when you do it properly. It takes time but the results are worth it.

    - You have to socialize with others in your niche. I'm sure you've all seen how well John Chow and Shoemoney can market - they regularly hold competitions that throw users back and forth eachother's blogs which ultimately increases their total readerbase.

    - I know it's been said before but go out and spend some time writing a decent post that you can send to other blogs as a "guest post". The trick is not to aim for the "A-list" blogs but instead target the less popular ones - you're much more likely to get your post published.

    - Organize a meet group with bloggers/webmasters in your area. Obviously the results aren't immediate but the relationships you form here will prove to be invaluable later on.

It takes time to test things and see what works for you. Read, read, read, then submit, submit, submit, and at the end of of a few months...... See where you end up.

Its been said already but you should really go into business with some one or find some one you can outsource the marketing to.

A good start would be some SEO. Build the backlinks, keep it light and simple. This is just the very basics of marketing or attracting traffic to your site.

Once you have built a solid foundation to move forward with, go ahead and start doing some more advanced marketing. Give away free content, pdf reports, build a list on your site (dpoesn't matter what market you are in, you can always build an email list) and maybe upload some cool videos, or tutorials realted to your nich/market and get them up around the net. Social bookmark, participate in forums (you seem to be doing well at that one).

The marketing really depends on your market and niche. You want to do some market research, find out what drives your market, what makes them spend cash and then you want to appeal to that side of them as best you can by promoting your product in the best light possible.

If you really don't have the time or inclination for any of this, I would suggest outsourcing small parts of the process to other people who can and will do it for a reasonable fee.

Marketing is trial and error. Keep a good log of what you are doing, and work out what is bringing in the leads, conversions, sales.

Keep at the ones that are working!

In the end marketing is all about:
    - Find someone that has a need/problem and wants to pay something to solve it (Your market)
    - Offer them a solution for which they have to pay you.

That is perfectly normal. Most people have little experience in this area and fail mostly because of there lack of knowledge. Don't follow what other people say, but rather try to figure new ways to market your sites. Step away from the traditional and invest in new areas or tools that are new and haven't been exploited like all the rest.

In the you have to be creative and learn from your mistakes.

Frustration is the first thing you will face when you try to market online . Marketing whether online or offline is difficult .You should try different methods to get traffic like article marketing . But if you are quite desperate to get traffic then you should try paid advertisement .(I mean expensive paid advertisement)
