Blog posting would also work well for a news site. Many blogs out there discuss daily news.

Not to come across as rude but do you really think sig links for this particular site will help with promotion? Sure it might help getting indexed and all but the actual affect that sig links have on rankings/traffic isn't all that great.

It's going to be hard entering the news industry as it's huge and has A LOT of competitors. I think the best thing to do (unless you have a decent advertising budget) is to keep posting content and watch the traffic trickle in.

If your site is just newly launched, try PPC though this method requires some budget for bidding keywords.

Sig links work for any market, it won't bring in the big bucks if that's what you're referring to.

There are hundreds of ways to market a site, but money is the name of the game. The cheapest and most effective would be to create more content, but I guess he's doing that already otherwise it wouldn't be a great news site.

On this forum you will find many people offering services that could be considered beneficial. But once again, it's up to each and every individual to chose. The best solution is to purchase a few products and analyze the end results.

Many large online company has news related subject. Very difficult to compete. They have the finance to buy ad space on other top pr news site. I suggest starting with forums and read related articles in ezinearticles. Try to draw them in by what's happening.

I think the best way is to use natural SEO to get it to the front page of google for a competitive search term. Other ways are expensive and risky. I would contact related sites in your niche and trade links. But that might be difficult for your niche as compared to mine.
