Hi there! I'm John Dixon, the Affiliate Manager (gambling market). I believe this post will be useful for both Affiliates and Merchants. The reason I'm posting on this forum is to get your thoughts on developments in partner/affiliate programs. Some of them are totally outdated, others are offering cutting edge promotional technologies to their affiliates. I'd like to ask all Webmasters: what are the keythings you look for in a partner/affiliate program? For example, our company offers personalized landing pages, customized graphics, reviews, articles, rss/xml feeds and more... Look forward to reading your views. Thanks, John
Graphics, data feeds, landing pages are all well and good, but the main thing I look for is conversions, commissions and average sale price. If I send you the traffic can you turn it into a sale? How much $ will I receive per sale? Let me give you an example. I have a site that sends traffic to a number of nutritional supplement affiliates. Two of them have large data feeds so I included all of their products on my site. After a few weeks I checked the stats. One site had zero conversions the other had a decent conversion rate of about 3%. Guess which one I dropped. -Ramprof
I could add, feedersites, brandable reports, brandable viral materials, brandable landing pages and so forth in terms of resources as well as good conveting product sites; so better tune up your conversion rate and only then seek for affiliates;
From my experience, affiliates want to be able to discuss what strategies work and what don't prior to starting their promotion. What Sandy also said is true as well.
for me, I'd like the featuers where all information about product is available with complete website, so from publisher piont of view, a new domain and web hosting is all needed to run the affiliate. What's your website? I'd liket o participate, may be
Here is what i usually look for: - different payment options - brandability - API/RSS sometimes helps very much - and high payouts
Thats right mate! They also seek for great support, which helps, gives realistic action steps, motivates, advices; p.s. payouts are very good point if you can't make 50-200$ sale then you really need to work hard on numbers;
Answers! I often ask principles whether or not they have certain items, features available before I bother signing up for the program. About 95% never bother to answer. I figure that if they won't answer simple questions, they won't answer the complex ones? Also, tell us what works. Show samples of landing pages that work. Maybe we want to make our own.
I agree, this is very important communication issue - as affiliate I noticed this a lot in my time and now we are trying to fix this as much as possible at MoreNiche! Strong support and training/help is way to go!
