whats the catch on register.com's first year free domain registeration

    I saw that register.com is giving first year free domain registration for small businesses.
    what is the catch?
    will i be able to transfer it? what will be renewal cost?

    does anyone know about this..

    You will have to call them and go through a authorization process to transfer the domain name out. The renewal is $35.

    will i be able to transfer the domain to other somain registars like name.com after a year before renewal.( i have all my domains registered there).
    I don't know much about transfers and all.

    what would be the authorization procedure? :confused:

    To transfer, you need to call them for the code to transfer out (and they'll try to sell you crap).

    Yes, you can transfer out.

    so is it worth registering a domain from them. i don't know all those procedures..

    Or should i go for godaddy to buy domain at $6.99 with a promo code?

    Better to register it elsewhere. It's not worth the hassle with Register.com.

    What promo code would you be using with Godaddy, if you don't mind sharing? Thanks.

    BTW GoDaddy are decent, but not perfect, I had problems in the past, but at some point I had problems with most registrars, or I am going to...you have to be lucky to have the perfect experience in the long run.
