    Is this true for seo per say?? Back Ground Images in Header Good or Bad For seo?

    Or a myth?? I heard about it on seo talk.....

    It may take time for the page to load if you use a very big filesize image.. Does not effect your Search Engine Placement/position/indexing etc.. As you cannot add alt text for background images..

    But it may have negative effect if the background images are used for the purpose of "Hidden Text"..

    Background images are never seen, nor indexed by search engines. They will therefore neither help nor hinder your goal of high placement. That said, if the images were really content, and if they had appropriate text in the alt attribute, that might help your cause.

    Do keep in mind that 99+ of a hundred soi disant SEO experts have not a clue what they're talking about. One idiot makes a crap statement, and the others repeat it ad nauseum until it just must be true.

    Instead of listening to a bunch of people sharing their ignorances, go to the source, Google Webmaster Central. Other search engines companies also discuss seo factors, but you can search for them yourself. :).
