You don't refund a purchase so the person contacts their back to charge back the amount to their credit card. It means that they get refund and you can't do anything about it. Sometimes the person doesn't even bother to ask for a refund and they just go straight for a chargeback.

chargeback is not a feature offered by clickbank.
Unfortunately some clients change their minds and want a refund but they do not ask for it, they call their credit card company and ask them to cancel the transaction.

In this case the credit card company retrieves the money back from clickbank, this also comes with a penalty fee of about $38... so the publisher has to give back the full amount that was spent on the product + $38...

Yep, it can happen that the person doesn't recognise the payment and requests a chargeback through their credit card company... they may forget what it was for or deliberately not bother requesting a refund and go straight to requesting a chargeback.

Okay. Can they request a chargeback after 60 days?

If the sale is made, after 60 days. Thats my money no matter what?

Thanks, still coming to grips understanding all this.

Yes I believe they can. A week or so ago I got my first chargeback - even though the item I promoted was sold in November. What a drag.

unfortunately they can chargeback after 60 days.....

some people receive a product and then they charge back

so they keep the product for free.....

this is not a nice situation and a solution needs to be found

The only way to deal w/ chargebacks is to figure it in as a part of doing business. After selling a product for several months, you should be able to come up with a charge back rate. All digitally delivered products will have some sort of charge back rate, it's inevitable.

The limitation on chargebacks is determined by a credit card company and this is sometimes up to 60 days, but quite often can be up to 90 days. It may even stretch to 180 days for some customers/cards, but most of them do require some paperwork to be filled out and the reason why it is normally 60 - 90 days is the time it takes to get replies from the merchant who processed the transaction. The standard is 4 weeks (28 days) in the UK before a response is expected.
