It’s a simple counter argument framed in numbers and symbols : $3 million. That’s how much Winer claims to have made from his blog over the years, from advertising. Winer used his blog to talk about what he was doing , Net profit: $500k . Consulting gigs from his blog: “a few hundred thousand.†Sale of weblogs.com to Verisign after only mentioning it on his blog: $2.3 million. Dave Winer is a sort of web pioneer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Winer so his making few millions from a blog is the exception rather than the rule.. 1 blog (personal blog) that makes tonnes of $$ is a very very nano small % Those who make millions from Blogging treat blogging as a business ...like starting blog communities and group of blogs such as http://www.problogger.net/:)
So one guy made some money. Shaquille O'Neil will play in about 60 games this year and pull in 20 mil. And this really isn't an adsense post. It really doesn't matter what one guy can do. Most people will never even make minimum wage for the hours they put into their sites.
Blogs have too much potential if you know how to use them . From last few months I am tracking few tech blog and they get 5 to 7 posts daily . Their earnings are increasing day by day and I am sure that the blogger I am tracking will be famous soon .
There are lot of people make money online with blog. Me too make some extra money. But if you are telling, this much of amount per month, it is difficult to think. But if it is true... my congratulation..
People do make money with blogs, I am one of those people I don't make millions however, but what I get is more than the average pay a fresh graduate gets here.
Making some money on blogs isn't hard. But making $3M nowadays with one single blog is impossible. And guess what: Selling a domain is not really considered blogging to me: I could easily sell "blogger.com" for $3M as well, but I don't own that site... It's more like marketing that makes you rich, not blogging itself.
