Torrent is always extremely slow, that's why I use usenet in comination with a 20Mbit connection :) That way I can download like everything (everything is on usenet, even more that torrents) with 2000 KB/s ;)

It takes more time for me to rent a video than to download it lol :p Here in the Netherlands (unfortunatly not in my city) you can also choose for optical fiber lines, which get you 100Mbit for around €80 a month! With usenet, you could download a 4.7GB DVD in 10 minutes!

I'd pay €80 a month for fibre optics!!!

My god if i could get speeds like that I'd be happy.
I'm not too sure what my connection speed is anymore... I didn't set it up. and its running wireless through a router to my laptop.

Never heard of usenet, what is it?

i have to admit i do download not as much as i used to , yes it is theft but with all other living costs its the one great thing that is actually free. & when we get taxed on all things & theres no cash to go to the cinema then what you gonna do?

The big theft in all this is the groups that steal to upload to the net

I don't feel guilty, those company already earns millions of dollars and I often go to the theater and pay $10 to see a movie. Personally, I consider that when I pay $10-12 to see a movie at the theater, I can download it

It is not right but both the music and movie industrie has to find a new solution. Todays alternatives are outdated. I guess that is why so many choose not to pay.
I use rent over internet, i am in no hurry to see and hear everything before everybody else so i can wait for the release and pay the small amount to rent or buy.

The entertainment industry itself is pretty immoral as it is.

Yeah me too ;) Too bad there still are no plans to put them in the ground here in my city..

Usenet is one of the oldest methods of sharing files. First it started as a newsreader service, divided into newsgroups and now you can also upload binaries.

Advantages are that it is super fast (the speed is only limited by your own internet connection and there is a massive amount of content (I have yet to see the first movie, series, music or game that is not posted at least 10 times on usenet).

Disadvantage is that you have to pay for it (~$10/month for unlimited bandwidth and 20Mbit speed or more, but then you're screwed ;) )

Immoral? That's funny. It's immoral for them to be charging us $25 to buy a DVD that I will end up only watching once! Maybe if they were much cheaper I would buy them.

I buy programs though. Especially smaller applications from independent developers because I want to support their good work.

I started downloading films because I love to watch documentaries and most of them can't be found in your local video store. The only way I could watch them was by downloading them illegally since purchasing the DVD was nearly impossible.

Maybe this will change because there are many good documentaries out there that I would really like to see.
