I'm a little confused.i've done reasearch and asked questions but no response. I've been told to use blogging sites like squidoo, blogger, etc. to market and promote my website.but I don't get any views on those blogs. So now I gotta promote that as well? How do I get people to view my blogs. Also I've been told to promote my site through social sites like digg, reddit etc. I submit sites and wait and get traffic and a month passes by and not 1 visitor.Am I doing something wrong? I thought these sites help market and increase traffic. help me out peeps.please thanks in advance.
I must admit that I've never used squidoo, and frankly don't think I've ever been to the site, maybe I'm missing something? As far as the social bookmarking sites are concerned, you can get decent traffic from Digg, etc if you have a good network of contacts that are willing to comment and share your post/story. Otherwise it can be frustrating and similar to the old saying, if a a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound? or something like that
I use squidoo as a PART of my marketing efforts, however using all the Web 2 properties combined with article marketing will be much more effective for traffic
I love squidoo, i do squidoo plus i create them for my clients its simply great along with ezine and hub.. i hope it doesnt get exploited
I have a few Squidoo lenses that rank very well in the serps. Of course they will just sit there unless you give them a few backlinks (like from article directories). While it may sound like a lot of work, they do have staying power in the rankings. Yahoo just loves them. I generally create a lens with 2x500page posts, a youtube mod, feedback mod, and links mod. Then I will write up to 10 articles and submit to Ezinearticles. The title of my lens is usually the keyword I'm trying to rank for. Also, the anchor text from the articles at Ezine are the same keyword. Finally, since Squidoo loves a frequently updated lens, I will include a "TIPS" section where I swap out 100 word blurbs every few days. Works well for me.
the only promotion i do for my squidoo pages is some social bookmarking and maybe point a couple ezinearticles to them. This should result in a little bit of extra steady traffic from the serps. i dont primarily use my squidoos, bloggers, etc. for more traffic though, but for the high PR backlinks they give to my main sites.
I have done some squidoo. They have had mixed results, mainly you need to keep them high quality and typically updated.
Put unique content up on squidoo page...use good tags...social bookmark page and gain backlinks...you'll start to see traffic, esp. if it's a longtail keyword.
i have given up on squidoo. A big wast of time in my opinion. My time is spent better doing something else.
I tried to optimize a squidoo page to get a first page ranking. I can optimize an article to the 1st page but google was very slow in indexing my squidoo page. It's on there now but it took a few months I think. Of course at that time I was just trying to optimize articles to the front page. But now that I have tried link exchanges (not using a commercial exchange site) I think it's the best way to get to the front page though it takes hard work. So I think people use squidoo etc. for a shortcut. But the articles were not a waste of time because they gave me valuable one way links with high trust rank. You can get traffic with squidoo but your page must be popular.
I've put up a couple of Squidoo pages in the past, but to be honest I think my time would have been better spent elsewhere. they didn't seem to give me much link love or traffic...
I like to build a squidoo lens when I'm getting ready to launch a new site. You have to keep updating it, though, or else Google doesn't favor it. If you keep at it for a while and you've chosen good keywords (not a lot of competition on your keyword in Google - under 50,000 competiting results) your Squidoo lens can end up on the first page of Google. Within your Squidoo lens put links back to your new site or blog, and this will create another nice flow of traffic for you besides your other promotional methods. But yes, even if you create a free blogger blog, hubpage, or squidoo lens, traffic will not automatically come to your pages. You'll still have to build backlinks over time to your pages. Dan
Backlinks is what you're looking for and not only traffic. You need to learn some SEO strategies first if you want to understand the value of a Squidoo Lense. <-- (the latter needs to be promoted as well). When you have 20+ squidoo lenses all indexed concentrate the traffic on one of your sites. Social media traffic doesn't come from "just" submitting..
Exactly it is good for PART of it, Very High PR comes with backlinking etc. from a squidoo page. Make sure it's SEO optimized, you should begin to see atleast some traffic.
