When it comes to deciding windows v. linux, you have to think about what your site will be designed using. If you are going to use .asp you'll need windows. If you are going to be using .php, you'll need linux. The main difference is that. Other than that, linux is the standard for most hosts right now, with windows costing a certain amount (usually around 10 dollars) due to the fact linux is open source and windows costs money.

What are your requirements bandwidth/hard drive space wise? I would recommend not going with an unlimited host as these just usually lead to problems. Not only that, have you seen an unlimited hard drive before? They are just lieing to you and will look to suspend you account when you try using too much usually by CPU resource limits.

Pretty much what I would have said. We would need to know what sort of website or application you will be running to better assess your needs.

As the above posts, it mainly depends on what your site will be programmed with. So if its asp/asp.net windows sound the right choice. For PHP you will need linux hosting.

I understand from your post, you don’t have enough background about this stuff, so you need to find a good company that will support you (from A to Z) whenever you need help. Also make sure about the 30 days money back policy (whenever you think windows is not what you want. Just get your money back within the 30 days, and/or switch to linux).

If you're planning on using any MS technologies such as ASP/ASP.Net then you'll need the Windows based hosting plan, windows also fully supports PHP.
