when people say "Google" they should differentiate between Google the company (run by humans) and Google the Algo, which is potentially one day Artificial Intelligence in the making. Google the company, no of course theyre not God, theyre just men, like all the churches are. Google the algo, well thats different.. then its no less a stupid statement than those made by every religion in the world. There's more logical arguments, or "proof" that the Algo is God than any religion has ever managed to show about their particular version of "God"
It was stated there (in the mentioned article) that google is all-knowing thus comparing it to omniscence or being god. But it, or the company, is not a know-it-all. just an expert on internet-based or world wide web stuffs. but on other things, maybe not...

Ya.. Google is playing monopoly now. They want the whole internet, all the sites in the world to follow the rules and path laid by them. If not then they punishes that site by dropping off in search engine ranking, banning adsense, banning adwords, marking the site as spam, marking as harmful site etc.
I don't think there are people actually worshiping Google out there...lol It's the most popular search engine, but I'm not sure it reaches into the spiritual realm
google is not a god it just have best search engine. If it was not there. Then Some Other Search Engine Wud Be Best like yahoo.
ah, the company, yes, but the algo? whose mission remember, is to index and catalog the entire world's information? how much closer to all knowing can you get? admittedly its not there yet, but it's closer than anything else (that we know definitely exists, unlike the many and various deities)
well it is true that no God has ever actually given money to people, ..left in the hands of religion its always been the other way round.
