I am site manager for music.lifetips.com It is #2 on Google for 'Music Tips', and as it is through lifetips.com it is OK on Alexa (19,300). So, I'm just wondering what ideas you guys (and gals) may have as to how to monetize this site? I was thinking blog/link/newsletter promotions... something like $.25+/link? I know this is a bit tough, since DP isn't music oriented businesses/sites, but I was hoping to get the business aspects here Thanks
Theres a few ideas you could do: Allow musicians to upload and download Music Add Amazon associates affiliate scheme and link in music sales, ipod sales, Sell ebooks related to anything musical Join something like cj.com and add some affiliate banners
Thanks Networkangel, great suggestions! If you could, explain exactly what you'd like to see in a "Allow musicians to upload and download Music"? Moreover, what's something you'd like to see than isn't offered on other sites?
Lifetips.com has a PR of 6. As for music.lifetips.com I am uncertain. Banner space would be most efficient on the newsletters... and I am thinking any text links would be a desirable outlet to monetize.
I see that you already have google adsense and amazon. These are basic money generators for an average site. Based on the content I see, you could sell banner ads directly from music stores, for a much higher price than what google or amazon will ever give you. You seem to have very nice, targeted content. Think about what your visitors buy (music instruments, audio equipment?) and have a direct sales approach. In my experience, the money you can make with direct sales can be 10X what standard programs will give you. It just takes some effort to contact potential companies, whereas Google and Amazon just require installing a script. You get what you paid for I guess -- fairblogs.net: where bloggers share revenue and grow their blog by adding writers
You could become an affiliate for audio editing or audio related software applications. You would receive a percentage for any sales that result.
Also you should try out to develop your network through music community sites like bebo.com/last.fm/myspace...
I actually have a music business (volunteer/no-profit for now). It's myspace.com/beermusicmarketing ...but I think I may try to set up a newer profile, something that's more directed towards my site and blog. My only problem is that many musicians are doing the music for 'fun' or 'they can't afford any marketing'? ...I don't think .25-4.00/month is that much? AM I WRONG?!? I am a musician, so ya I know that you want to get fans and volunteers, but I also know the marketing aspect too, which is why I'm offering such cheap rates. Thanks again everyone
Haha, thanks If anyone would know of anyone/business related to music... spread the word out for me, that'd mean the world to me!
