Can anyone offer advice on getting PR to the inner pages of my directory? Homepage is a pr2 but all other pages are either PR0 or no PR available. thanks
I am starting to get the feeling that the algorythm have significant changes nowtimes mikey. I think that only matters now is uniqueness and traffic on these pages.
I don't think traffic matters that much, traffic would be a result of them trusting the page and ranking it higher.
One or 2 pages have had deep links added, but the pages are all quite new, so I think that may be a factor as you have mentioned.
Don’t worry about page rank to your inner pages. If you get it and gain any popularity Google will just take it away. Be more concerned with your main page and getting inner pages cached.
Several hundred factors are taken into account, but anybody who thinks they know exactly what they are is only speculating.
At least we know that inner pages pr is not any more (at least on web directories) calculated by the number of links pointing to it.But as stoner said dont focus on PR, the more you focus the less you get.Just try to do the best for your directory and always have in mind if G will knew that will like it?
It basically just takes time and links. Get links to the inner pages to help boost their PR. However, it usually takes a home page PR of 4 before you'll see PR on your inner pages.
I'm not sure about "lying". I think there is a surely some link between traffic, average time on site, average pages per visit and a site's rankings and PR. It is dificult to prove however. Its a bit of a chicken and egg question in my eyes do good traffic and visitor retention help give you good rankings? or does good pr and rankings get you good visitor traffic?! LOL
I agree about that, but do you think traffic affects rankings or does rankings affect traffic, or both? lol
Many things affect rankings, and if it's a highly searched keyword, a good ranking will bring traffic.
I think it is based on many different factors and variables and not just backlinks, I know many sites with thousands of backlinks, but no PR. Page Rank measurement is not accurate or not perfect. One update you cheered and the next update you cry even though you tried to increase your backlinks and whitehat promotions. Two things are for sure; Quality links pointed at your site and the type of contents you produce(quality and it's uniqueness).
If they were all worthless links, it won't have helped. Secondly, if the site has thousands of bad backlinks it's likely Google will penalise their SERPs or PR or both.
