    Yes, but only back in 1997 :D. For me, Google and Yahoo give much better result compare to other search engine.

    Just an FYI - AltaVista and AlltheWeb are both owned by Yahoo and all use the same database.

    I love to use AltaVista.com , one reason is that they have an excelent filter for adult, safe for kids, rather than other search engines that spread all the p0rn to make money.

    Altavista protects our children and family.

    I stopped using AV in 1998, like ricelover just said "It was popular back then."

    Started using Google and never looked back.

    I haven't used Altavista in years for the reason that it didnt use to give a lot of search results and the page always loaded error

    I like their babel fish tool, but just noticed that when you click on it now it is hosted by yahoo. So yeah, altavista is basically yahoo now.
