Directory submission companies - good or bad

You see lots of these companies that advertise "250 directory submissions for $40", has anybody used one of these companies and more importantly - do they work ?

 

Good ones like submityourarticle.com work really well.

 

I have hired many people to do this job. I always use services like rent a coder for such projects because this way you can be sure that you get results or money back.

In the project description always mention that you want screenshots of the submissions or that your email must be used so you can check out if your site was really submitted.

Most coders did serious job so far but there was a few of them who was trying to cheat.
