hi i have a domain easyyoutube.com The word "youtube" is a registered trademark and i don't want a copyright issue and i need the domain like this so i had an idea but i don't know is it legal or no if i bought a domain don't content trademarks like easyyt.com and i used my old domain easyyoutube.com to make a redirection to the other domain , and the domain won't have any content just a .htaccess redirection is this legal or not ? thanks in advance
Yeah - that site looks pretty borderline particularly with the "tube" logo. The way I see it - even if it was legal, if YouTube wanted to do something about it they could, being the multi-million dollar conglomeration they are. Avoid the headache! Rebrand!
With what the domain name's currently showing, it's not. And your disclaimer isn't going to necessarily shield you from liability. Then again, why else did you register the domain name? Unless you intend to make any non-commercial use, it's practically impossible to make money from it without confusing people into thinking Google's endorsing it. And should you ask why others are doing the same, not everyone gets caught for speeding. But those that do...tend to pay a high price. Just giving a bit of specifics, even though others answered your question. Up to you.
All that sounds very dangerous since you are doing the same as they do. Just stay away of tms. Why you all need to use "youtube" for such sites. If you already copied their idea, maybe would be fair to invent unique name at least.

What looks like a simple and easy short cut generally never is... It would be better if you concentrated on your own brand name and worked on it, rather than working hard under a hanging sword! Regards, RightMan
I agree.. it would probably be best to re-brand, especially if you're starting up, it's not worth the hassle.
If you do anything to do with youtube´s business then you are in trouble. If you decide to sell shoes or beds for example then you will have no problems. The reason for this is because you would not be competing with youtube as you are in two completely different markets.
If you even have to ask the question if it's legal or not, then it probably is illegal to do. Infringing on someone else's copyright can cause headaches. Why not think of a different domain name for your product and market it as a companion to Youtube.com
Unfortunately that's not necessarily true. One exception to that are famous marks, as in so famous many people will likely confuse another party with the actual mark holder. Consider Microsoft. It consists of two common words, yet is one of the most famous and recognizable trademarks on the planet when used together. If you registered Microsoftbowlingdotcom to sell bowling balls, do you really think people won't confuse that site with the software giant itself? They can be argued to be stupid, but they've learned to associate anything bearing the word Microsoft to them. Or if you want a real-life example, lookup the eBay vs. Perfume Bay dispute. It got some coverage. The point here is it boils down to likelihood of confusion, which is what TMs do aim to prevent. It's debatable whether YouTube is famous like its mark holder, but they happen to have deep enough pockets to enforce their IP rights.
Quit confusing here ......After reading all the views here I have done a small research and found one website "bsnlbroadband(dot)com. Its not the official website of bsnl but the user has register this domain to get the advantage of BSNL brand name. So my question is that would this also be consider as illegal and if so then why this domain is still running and BSNL has not complained about it.

At the end of the day, it depends on who you're dealing with. Maybe they will make a fuss, maybe they won't. Me? I try not to give anyone any enforceable cause to hold me liable, moreso if there are enough records out on the public on their take.
I would also advise you against it..especially cos your domain consists of the word 'youtube' itself..
