If I marketed my website in some way and received 10'000 unique visits in a few hours what would happen to my website ranking and SERP in google?
what? i assume this kind of traffic would be coming FROM google, so you'd obviously be ranking quite highly in google... i'm not sure i understand this post.
Absolutely nothing. Traffic has never been a major part of the google algorithm (it may be a minor part of one the '200 factors' but they've never stated that it is)
depending on how you have your hosting, your site might crash...there is really no coorolation between traffic and SERPs. We were on 20/20 and our phones blew up and our website crashed, but we made about $10k from it that week. That was a stressfull week!
It would only matter if your traffic somehow influenced Google's algorithm. I would doubt a short burst of traffic would have any influence that was positive with respect to SEO. A short burst is an anomaly. Why would you expect it to help?
it will not have any major effect. Your website's PR will not at all be affected. As far as SERP rankings are concerned, you may benefit a little but it will be temporary and will fade out soon
Your google page rank would only go up slightly if the traffic was sustained over a long period of time. Google weighs many other factors higher then traffic. If your site is selling something, quality traffic of 10,000 UV's in a couple of hours might be very good for profits though.
There is.. isn't it your main reason why you are seeking for traffic is to make your site be ranked high? And once your traffic is placed on the top 10 or top 50 of the SE the PR has change as well. Though I agree to what you have said that it's just temporary, but as long as your traffic is organic and your link is permanent there will be no problem with your rankings.
Hmmm... number of visitors don't affect your site ranking. It is not one of the factor that search engines look up when they show search results. Anyway, 10'000 unique visits in a few hours is really awesome!
I want know what is the purpose of PR ? Is it help your business in drive more sales ? Hey dudes. We need to increase the sales thats why we are doing SEO and SEM so we should focus on traffic not a PR.
Sometimes traffic from referral site may help ranking, remember google notice Back links, so by then if google saw your page linking to the most popular site you can be consider for your targetted KW.
Wow, 10,000 in an hour,...the first time I receive that kind of traffic is when the first time I handled porn site.
BL, traffic and content.. all are having good role to get rank and also in SERP... so get 1000 of cliks per hrs means .. good and after a while will get good position and also ranked welll.... ""Also u will become a rich man ahahahha""
