What type of hits do different PRs get?

I see a lot of people talking about they have PR3s, PR4s and some up there with PR6s... But does that really matter THAT much?

I'm by no means a SEO expert, so I ask. I know it all depends on the niche, and the keywords, and alignment of the stars - I got that much... But if you have a PR'd site, what's your daily UVs? I'm just curious.

I've a PR0 site and I'm the only UV. (that's a joke lol but I'm really curious about others)

There is absolutely no correlation between PageRank and hits/traffic.

That doesn't make sense. There has to be a correlation whether it's directly or indirectly and in this case it seems to be indirectly correlated.

My thought process on PR is that if you have a higher PR then the chances are you probably place higher in the SERPs on a keyword or two. If you're higher on the SERPs then chances are you have a better click through.

WHY would you even want a higher PR if there's no traffic benefit to it?

There is no co-relation between PR of a website and the number of visitors. As far as search engine ranking is concerned, here also PR has no role to play. It is not at necessary that website with high PR ranks on the first page of Google. If you do a bit of research on ranking of website you will come to know that many websites beyond 5th page of Google SERP have good PR which is many times much more than the PR of websites on the first page.

    Hey my dear friend.

I could not agree with you coz PR doesn't play any major role in SEO, It just a part of G.

SERP are purely based on content on your site, it should related to the search terms in Google.

SERP - Search terms are how much relevance to your website. :D

Page rank has nothing to do with traffic PR is just a value of your site to Google.

So... PR is worthless? Valueless? And people just pay big bucks to get their links placed on a site with high PR for no reason?

What is the purpose of PR then? Okay, so Google thinks highly of my site but it doesn't get me higher on the SERPs (which ultimately does lead to more traffic, most people don't go past page 2 on SERPs remember).

Good backlinks build both PR and search engine rankings. So if you target good terms properly a high PR website will also have a lot of traffic. It is impossible to see how much traffic a website would get based on PR alone. For example, a PR6 targeting used blue widgets may get less traffic than a PR6 website targeting a better term such as best widgets. Different niches and keywords have different levels of traffic. PR is just a relative scale to compare backlink strength of websites.

Okay, one shouldn't care about PR. It is valueless as it provides absolutely zero benefit.

Well think about it, if someone build PR around paid links on other site which receive very little clicks then there traffic will be poor. If someone has gained PR organically by having good content that people link back to then there traffic will not only be higher, but the traffic quality will be better compared to someone clicking a paid link out of spec/interest.

Use common sence and forget PR.

many people here are against PR.. but I know for sure that a good PR brings good traffic. I have a PR4 proxy site and it gets 40% of its traffic from google..

the logic is simple.. higher PR means more backlinks.. and more backlinks means better search results..

yes you can have a PR0 site and you can come on first page on search results.. but it does not mean that PR does not effect search engine results..

That makes a little more sense geoffrey. PR could potentially effect your traffic INDIRECTLY with many factors, right? What keywords they're hunting for, etc.
