I am interested in which ways are more common and more profitable for making money online. Some people believe that you should try to look for good niches which you may not know as much about, and then create a website about that. They will usually create multiple smaller websites, and spend less time on each one individually. The other way that I've seen people make money online, is by creating a website based upon their interests or their specialized knowledge and then trying to incorporates SEO and advertising as a secondary thought. Their primary focus seems to be creating really good content, but create only one or two sites. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Thanks, Kyle
Nice start to a thread Kyle. I hope you get a bunch of responses. Creating a few websites that of things that interest you is a great idea. Adsense pays well if you can get loads of traffic.
Yea, it goes both ways really. Some make money with a cash cow and others make money with group of smaller sites. Both sides make money for some.
Thanks for starting the thread... I am wondering the same question, as I am just getting into site building more. I'll be back to read the responses!
there is nothing to ask in it. if you are interested in making money though website, you should focus on niche website that what the visitors likes. If you are interested in providing good information, you can start in your knowledge based website. Which means you can write what you know and well versed. If you are interested in making money through your website, you should get the traffic to your website, for that you will have to concentrate on SEO. Also you can create as many website for you to get better money from all the website. Cheers
There are two things. 1. Find a niche in your hobby. If you have a hobby then try to find how much demand and competition it has. also check how you can monetise it. If your hobby is golf, then try to find a niche that is related to golf like golf balls, golf clubs and start a site to sell them. 2. Grab a niche. In case you don't have a specific hooby, like me, or your hobby has no commercial value then try to find a profitable niche. You may not know anything about it but for the sake of making money through it you have to learn about it and know abt it. Probably, hire a writer to write about that niche.
have lot of fun on internet, now start working try to find a good niche for you and start working for it the more hard work you do more business you will get try to expand your all skills ..
Go for niche that have high demand coz this will ensure the maximum profit. While if you're not earn for living then you can do the thing that you have interest in.
I suppose if you're exceedingly lucky, you have a strong interest in a niche that is also popular and in high demand. But if that isn't the case, I do think people can be incredibly successful creating tools or websites that they find interesting. I was once told that if you could find 1,600 people in the ENTIRE WORLD who were willing to pay $50 a month for something, you'd have a million dollar a year business. You can look at it as either competing with hundreds of other entrepreneurs to get 1,600 people out of billions in the world - which may sound like easier odds but can be overwhelming, or finding 1,600 people who share interests with you and want the same things, and you create what they want - what you want too. So, both are good options, but you may have a better shot of pulling people in with something you can be passionate about.
Wow! I had no idea how great the responses would be to this question! The answers I'm getting are very helpful for me, and I'd assume others too. So thanks so much. Kyle BTW: I think you off by about $40,000
Although im not quite there yet (far from it) what i notice about the guys that make massive amounts (from what i see and hear) is that the top money makers are the ones who have huge mailing list. They say "the money is in the list / relationship with your list" and it couldn't be further than the truth. It is much easier to sell to a long term customer than trying to find new customers. Building your list is where you wanna be! Imagine creating a list so big that of eg 100k (build the relations) at that point you can start selling high ticket items eg $5000 seminar Now say you get 40 to a seminar thats 5000 X 40 = $200,000 you can do a 3 day workshop etc. Anyone agree? Its hard but part of the success is doing JV with guys that have massive lists.
Good content is fundamental. If you want to get real interest, and repeat users, you need to have something of professional quality. Nobody wil be interested in a website that seems to be written and run by a 10 year old child. You need the consumers trust if you want their money, and quality promotes trust.
This is an absolutely great question and I've done both of these methods. Unfortunately creating websites that are based on your interests may not necessarily make very much money. It is important for you to examine the client base around a particular interest. As an example. I have, what would be considered an extremely successful scrap booking site as far as the raw traffic is concerned. Unfortunately most of the visitors to my site are looking for free information, and generally speaking do-it-yourselfers do not like to spend a lot of money. If you are selling affiliate products on a website it's important for you to sell products that people have a burning desire for. As an example when the price of gasoline was extremely high I would make more money in one week with websites around the subject matter of hydrogen gas conversion than I would make in six months on my scrap booking site. That is because people burning gasoline had a burning desire to save money. People buying scrap booking materials were looking for scrapping ideas did not have a burning desire to pull out their credit card. The other extremely important consideration is how saturated a particular niche is. When considering a new niche you should follow the following process. Find out what the keyword searches are that are related to a particular niche. Next use a traffic tool like Google insights to determine how much raw traffic there is for particular key phrases. Next, put some of those key phrases in quotation marks and Google search and see how many competing websites are trying to rank high for those particular phrases. If you can find some highly searched phrases that have less than 10,000 results when placed in quotation marks on Google you have a better than average chance of being able to optimize well for those phrases. Good luck with your efforts.
It’s important to note that many people tell other people to start site(s) based on their hobby. This only has to do with the fact that people will put more value into it as they would already know the market and love doing it. That said; all our success as been in markets that we did not know anything before we got into them. We never ran more than 2-3 sites at a time, and only built a new site when we see our one site has reached a level that we need some R&R to do something else (I should not that we now only run one site, and sell it if we want to move into a new market) I don’t do small niche markets simply because there is no real money in them, that’s why they are super small without any big players. You want a good market, go find one that has statistics on high growth, real growth not in 5-10 years this market could be big BS, but the real thing… Growing in the billions, or high millions! Lastly, Unless you can see what product your going to be that users will really want, how your going to market it, and how its going to make money in many revenue formats, don’t build it because your chances are almost zippy. See the entire picture, that’s how you become a leader of niche markets.
