If traffic comes from myspace or facebook opposed to search engines will it have effect on the eCPM one gets?

nobody knows for sure, but i would *think* that the referrer has no impact on your ePC.. i *do* think that IP origin does - for example I could see that a click from, oh say, India might pay less than a click from Texas..
Just pure guessing though - maybe some Adwords experts can post more info.

As long as they are from the US and Canada, you have the best paying traffic.

BTW I'm launching Ultimate Money Makers soon enough. The first module of it will be about profiteering... you can know more about it right here: http://ultiimatemoneymakers.com/proof/

when it comes form originating country, it matters were the traffic comes from. english speaking country traffic , mostly US and Canada generates more revenue than non english speaking country traffic. reason being, most of the high paying programs and ads are based out of north america. since adsense displays ads based on IP location, these north america based ads wil lnot show for visitors in non-english speaking asian or middle eastern countries.

another thing is myspace and facebook traffic. they usually convert low if any at all as myspace and facebook users are very familiar with adsense ads and will only click on an ad that attracts them. traffic from social network usually have high bounce rate and low conversion ratio

What matters is the "INTENT" of your visitors. Why do they come to your site? If it's just empty traffic you won't convert. What's the point in high traffic that is not targeted? Of course it matters.

Well most traffic is from US or Canada if you have an average niche. You can try infolinks for a higher click through though because its intext links and you can make them underlined only once.

    yes it does

I found out that google traffic gives me highest eCPM. I guess it's because google knows it's targeted to my site and can server ads that are targeted to exact keyword people were searching for

If more of your traffic is coming from a social networking site ,then your adsense account will get smart priced. It means if your Adsense ads don't convert well for the advertiser then the advertiser is only charged a fraction of the amount he or she bid for the ad placement.

Most of these social visitors will never click an ad - and that's a good thing. Unfortunately a few will click an ad from time to time. When they do Google knows where they came from and knows that they aren't targeted traffic looking for widgets. They are just casual browsers and if you get too many of these casual browsers clicking your ads then Google will discount the hell out of the CPC in order to compensate the advertiser who is getting really crappy traffic from your site. Google will smart price you until you provide quality traffic.

Thank you everyone for your input, the quote above is exactly what happened to me. I increased my myspace traffic eCPM dropped done way too low. Clicks that would normally bring in $1+ is now bringing in about 0.30.

I wonder how long this will last :(

traffic from social networks myspace and facebook will lead to "less click'since psicologically they visiting you "to know more what you are.and not what "you offered to"

One thing that you all need to know about Smart Pricing.

It only works for people that have setup a conversion factor for sales to be made.
Affiliates for example can't do it... So it's not like you'll get smart priced over night just for getting scial bookmarking traffic.
