Hi, Don't forget that only 2 hours are left until the Landrush period starts for .TEL domain... in case you are interested. This will be an expensive one to have. You oughta register for a 3-year period and it will cost you more than $300 More info here about TEL domain landrush. What are you gonna do? Are you looking forward to this? I doubt this could be an opportunity for me but then, I can change my mind
Well, at the moment, only the trademarked names are gone. Everything generic is still up for grabs. So it's not too late. However, I understand what you mean. For a $300 budget, if you cannot see the benefits of TEL (some really can't), you can get a pretty decent COM.
I think you'll be only allowed to use specific templates which are provided by .tel registry and I think the registrars don't charge your $300 back If you can't get the domain that you desired
I have yet to realize the power of this extension. It's not very convenient to shed out $300 for a hope to get a domain! Unless it's RealEstate.tel or something... lol
You're right about the templates. You don't actually get to host the domain name - all info is stored directly on DNS well, if you act quickly, chances are you can grab realestate.tel instantly because it is not a trademark. Another question is what you're gonna do with realestate.tel because you won't be able to rank anywhere with a tel domain. It just looks good on your business-card and Facebook account!
last thing I want is to have all my contact info including email out there for spam bots to grab. This is their showcase page: http://emma.tel/ I guess they never heard of spam bots.
different point of view, but may be they have a special kind of layer for bots and scripts which grab datas on sites, but probably they don't have something like that.
Spam bot who? I too thought they would have a system in place. Went to see the page source, however, it all seemed plain and straightforward. If any bot visited Emma, it would easily grab her e-mail.
then I think .tel registry made it really easy for spam bots to grab data we will see what happens next.
Yeah I might just skip this extension entirely, I would have to send people to the URL anyway because nobody knows what .tel is.
The .tel open registrations are starting on 24th March 2009..so I shall give them a try then..its too expensive in the landrush..btw any clue about the pricing after the landrush??
I think it comes down to about $12 for a three year reg. I read that in one of the blogs but can't link it.
Even if you get a good name like realestate.tel I dont think it helps with search engines too much as the search engines seem to focus on .com. It also doesn't seem like something you would give your clients as it seems kind of weird, people are just used to the .com.
When it Golive for public on 24th march, the price will be vary from registrar to registrar, in between $10 to $20 name.com do refund money in case of unsuccessful land rush registration.
