They already sell links on their front page.....or am I missing something?

    Its done via Adwords......

You bid for the link placement to be on the front page......

Hmmmmm,,,,, well if you look at each of the ads across the top and along the right side, the links Google sells are within each ad.

So unless I am missing something there are anywhere from 5 to 10 links being sold continually...

They are already doing it .. sometimes they display link of book liberary sometimes google sites sometimes doodle sometimes internet bus sometimes of knol .. What they actually doing is launch new product and give link on homepage . Google is on its way to capture whole internet . You will get 6 results from wiekipedia , google images and google news, maps , shopping etc for any city name you type .. Sooner or later They wil capture most of the internet .. Google is Greedy now . Stop using them .

Then they would become hypocrites for selling "paid links" on there own website
as the links are not "relevant" (unless its another SE) nor do they use "no follow"
on there own network sites which is already breaking there rules/laws.

Well Firefox has a link to it's site one of Google's Front pages -

    http://www.google.com/firefox

It's a dedicated search engine for FireFox but still a valid PR6 linking to Firefox ;)

    You mean $1/nanosecond :p

You guys are SO underestimating it !!

You know the counter that tells you how much capacity you have in Gmail ?!

They've gotta make another $ Counter like this, to tell you how much per second.
