PayPal Express, to be precise. Customer only logs in, Google / PayPal send billing and shipping address back to merchant. The 'free' transactions based on AdWords spend make this a very lucrative option. Can't wait to use it!
I don't understand why they enable the form when they know very well I'm no US resident from the other info they collected from my google account (especially AdSense & AdWords) ... Maybe they want to test how many of us actually head the ToS
So the merchant doesn't need to collect the address details from the customer before they make payment? That is good.
Yes, that's how it works. But with PayPal you do get that info from them for your own fulfillment records. And from what I understand from GC, it works similarly. G says you either use their Merchant Centre to process it or your own back office and that would require knowing the shipping address at least. Without seeing the API docs it's hard to say for sure but thus far it seems like it's basically just like PayPal Express. Which is very convenient for the shopper and after it's integrated, for us merchants as well.
Google Account is finally live !!! http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060629/tc_afp/usinternetcompanymoneygoogle I am member of they service now. All you need is a valid credit card to get access to complete services they offer under google accounts page. They also offer $10 discounts from various web sites. Get $10 off from these stores Proud to be a member of Google Account ! Cheers, Dreamchaser
This will also aid in CPA ads. What I'd like to see here is a service like receiving payments from those who have a google account. I will sign up once it's available outside of the USA.
It sucks that the first thing they want you to do is register your credit card as soon as you sign in...
I'm surprised the BETA tag isnt attached... ... well, GoogleMail is still in beta after years... 1 nil to Paypal by the sounds of comments here...
Maybe more then 1:0 for PayPal. PayPal just need to cover more world countries, they intend to but question is how much it will take. "Executives said PayPal will step up investments in order roughly to double the number of markets to 105 countries where it offers the online payment service and increase the different currencies in which it accepts payments to 17 from seven now." http://www.bizreport.com/news/9821/ (this is not an affiliate link)
Sounds like no-one will use Checkout anyway, as for one, I do not like anyone asking for my credit card when I first sign up for something - I like to look around first.
