Yes, getting on first page is not going to get us tons of traffic.
I am just learning SEO and this is just a trail. :)

Hey Nitin seo, I live in Atlanta,Ga. I don't know how you could really add content to your site. I would just say keep building links any way you can. I would say you need to get links from the Atlanta area, like local businesses.

He need links from Atlanta related sites and not from Atlanta based sites.

@ Nitin: You would have been hit by some penalty, is your site new?

How can you say keyword I am using is not having much competition?

Because few people would choose their main target keyword with under 500 searches a month. The keyword you are targeting isn't competitive. Even a #1 ranking would bring less than 10 visitors a day. A thousand searches a day is competitive.

The number of results is an estimation on how much efforts its going to rank on such keywords.

No, it's not. The word "the" has 14 billion search results. How many websites do you think are targeting it? It only matters if you can beat the top 20 (really the top 10). If you can't get into the top 10, you aren't going to see any significant traffic unless you are talking about a huge keyword - like loans.

Again, you are calculating competition by searches which I think isn't a correct way of estimation. And I am getting 35-40 UV's per day for being on 8th position right now.

Ok, more visitors for that keyword than monthly searches. Whatever.

How can you rely on those tools?
They are just for rough estimation and not the exact value of searches.

Why are people ripping you for your SEO efforts? Dude, I think you have really done well. You are targetting a keyword that might be tough to compete in. However, you are on the first page and well in the place you should be.

    Just a personal suggestion:

You have a ton of sections. I would understand this if you had thousands of posts like DP does. Despite actually having a good amount of posts, you have about an average of 20 spread across numerous sections. If you could combine them it would make your website look bigger I think. Therefore, being more appealing to register and post.

Also, if you aren't getting much activity on the forum even though you are getting traffic, I would pay for paid posting. It will give new visitors the impression that your site is active. Therefore, jump starting it.

99%? Oh no. Maybe 10-50%(depends on site) but NOT 99...
In the past I made site with domains something.com and after half year I absolutely change content and page. Now page has nothing with the domain name. I am first for keyword "something"(for domain name keyword) and also first for about 3 SERPs for 3 keywords which has 2milion results and 2.-6. for about 10 SERPs for about 18000results. This keyword has nothing shared with my domain name

I just checked one of the keywords on Google for my oldest site. It is currently #1 ( Results 1 - 10 of about 16,600,000 for "transmission supply". (0.15 seconds) ). That website has continuously ranked #1 since 1998, sometimes out of as many as 56 million hits.

My new domain ranks as #4 on that SAME page.

And one of my eBay pages ranks as #8 on that SAME page.

All total I have 3 (THREE) hits on the FIRST page for that keyword out of over 16 million hits today.

Using other keywords, these sites consistently rank on the FIRST page of search results. And many times are the ONLY ones that show up in search results.

    ********************

Why do my sites rank so high? I really don't know. However, my pages have CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT and not much else, so I must assume that is the answer.

If there are ANY other sites out there that consistently rank better than mine, I would like to know about them. I might learn how they do it to make mine rank even better. But, then again, HOW do you improve on the #1 ranking???

Keep working as usual and seize this high traffic time to get some trusted visitors and get their email address. Be sure to offer them something so they get back soon, even if you drop some rankings, visitors will come back.

Yeah, right. Check the age of Google. I made first place within 2 months and have stayed there for 11 years, no matter how many wannabe sites have tried to shake me from that height. If you think you can knock me from that position, give it a whirl. I need to learn from you if you can.

The new site took TEN DAYS to get ranked on the FIRST PAGE. However, it has never been higher than #3 position and since I launched it TEN MONTHS ago it has ALWAYS remained on the first page. The content is constantly being added/edited and Google seems to index most of the changed pages within hours. So, no way can you say the age of the content has any bearing on anything.

And the eBay page on the first page CHANGES whenever I drop the page from eBay. So, they come and go, but there seems to ALWAYS be one or more of them in the top thirty pages. No age discrimination with them as my eBay pages are in constant flux.
