Resource for Building High PR Backlinks for Free

    Hi there,

I wanted to share one of the ways that I use to get high PR backlinks on do-follow forums and blogs. You can find the entire post about backlinking on my blog but the main details are below:

The first step is to download the Firefox addon, SEO for Firefox, a fantastic tool that will show you, directly in your search results list, valuable SEO information about the pages your search has returned. This information includes PR, the number of backlinks that page itself has, and age of the site. Once the addon has been installed, you’re ready to find some high PR target pages to add your backlinks.

Pick one of your favorite do-follow forums or blogs - if you don’t know of any you can start with my favorite web developer’s forum, Digital Point or check out many of the fantastic directories in other threads for do-follow blogs and forums. Go to the Google search engine and make sure your SEO for Firefox addon is turned on. Then, do a search for the phrase “site:forums.digitalpoint.com” of course replacing the URL forums.digitalpoint.com with whatever forum or blog you plan on using. As your search loads, the SEO for Firefox addon will show you the PR of each page indexed on the site, while the Google results will show you how many forums posts are on the page. A quick scan through the results can indicate some valuable results, such as this one here:

This image shows a result with a PR of 3, a fairly high PR, and only six other posts on the page. This is an excellent target - I can go to the page, add a post to the forum thread, and instantly have a PR3 backlink to my site. Of course, I follow whatever rules exist for the forum or blog, in the case of DP, unrelated self-serving links are only allowed in the signature. Then, I can return to the search results to find more easy targets and high PR backlinks. Once you’ve exhausted one site, there are thousands of other do-follow blogs and forums to explore.

One note - Google does not allow you to run limitless searches on their cached site pages, so it may be useful to do a few searches under one domain, then another, switching between them as you look for high PR backlink options. If you have any questions about this information, feel free to leave a comment below.

Thats great or you could just by a piece of software for $50 that will take you directly to a huge list of blogs that shows the dofollow status, PR by page, Date Stamps your Comments, Creates a list so you don't duplicate your own work, etc. And then you could spend your time actually making posts. But your way works too. It just takes forever!

I can do a dozen comments in about 15 minutes and move on to the next site. Yeah the SEO plug in is a good one, but if you ever really want to make money you had best figure out how to best manage your time.

One flaw in this strategy is that some forums frown upon bumping old threads. The forum threads with higher PR are more likely to be the older ones. So if you use this strategy in a forum with a touchy admin, you might get banned or penalized on the forum. Other than that, this is a good strategy.

Yeah, it is clean, it was actually recommended by a professional SEO consultant when I first came across it. It's a great tool.

vansterdam and dreadman both make good points - avoiding gravedigging and just generally being courteous can sometimes be a lot more effective than this, I would say this is a method of finding low hanging fruit to nab for backlinks, not the entire strategy.

Thanks for the great information. I do have a question for you, what are you using to find targeted niche sites that allow do follow links? That has been my biggest time consumer.

I look for directories that list forums and blogs by niche. That can be challenging for some of the less popular niche topics but hopefully it gives you a good place to start. Here are some pretty good lists:

    http://getinternetmarketingstrategies.com/2008/11/do-follow-forums/
    http://rumahabi.com/do-follow-forums-with-pr-and-niche.html

    Hope that helps!

The easiest way is to highlight a comment with a URL (either in the body of the comment or the name of the commenter), right click, and choose 'view selection source'. The href tag will contain a tag that says 'nofollow' if the blog is no follow. There are also programs, mentioned above, including Fast Blog Finder, that do it automatically.
