Godaddy has earned the irk of the Christian world: Entrepreneur Brian Harrell, who manages hosting services for dozens of Christian churches and faith-based organizations and uses GoDaddy to host over 160 domains, says he's pulled several of his clients off of GoDaddy's servers after receiving numerous complaints about the company's racy ads that aired during Sunday's game. - read more
Yep, I can always tell who the desperate companies are. If all else fails, appeal to drooling, impulsive morons (we have a lot however, that's how Obama got elected )
What doesn't irk the christian world? I found the ads, while not very funny... effective. Of course they use sex appeal - as does thousands of other companies.
To be honest, GoDaddy is the only related company I've seen with ads on TV. Therefore, if thats the market share of the hosting industry on TV, they technically didn't have to resort to these types of ads. I personally don't mind the ads, however I feel lack of creativity on their part.
I don't have a problem with the morality but their ads are retarded. Even the sexy(some would say sexist) beer commercials that the beer companies used to run a lot of usually had some cleverness about them. Godaddy's ads are all boobs and no creativity.
They don't necessarily have to be competing with others in the industry... they have to be competing for the viewers attention. Anything sexual usually grabs guys attention.
I never said it didn't work, I said it was lack of creativity. And sexuality or not, I still noticed it was the only hosting/registrar company to have ads on TV, especially during Sundays game. Even with previous ads which were mostly non-sexual (except the -- now I'm gonna do your mom -- part, seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JHGCd_9U5E). They don't need to be sexual for webmasters to realize this However I still like the ads, I have nothing against them personally.
Their ads have been like this forever don't know it took till the super bowl for it to become such a big deal.
Ahhhh whats all the fuss about??? Danica Patrick is hot.. (UB goes to sign up for so godaddy hosting ) Sex sells.. Period... I think you'll find it works for the girls too..
She's only hot with the right makeup and lighting. She doesn't look as good on racing day. Not saying she's bad looking, though, she's above average.
To fools.. Period.. Just watch porn if that's what you want. You're either really dumb or really desperate if you've been driven to a product or service simply because a hot chick was involved.
Of course I'm such a dumb ass I went out and spent every penny I had on Godaddy hosting.. Where did watching porn come into anything fool.. If you think for one moment sex doesnt sell you are living a very sheltered life.. Even Fortune 500 companies use sex to sell.
It sells to immature people, that's my point. Fairly intelligent people can appreciate something other than tits or @ss getting rubbed on some product. It is an insult to one's intelligence to air this overused, one-dimensional tactic. As LogicFlux said (who i hate to agree with), there is no creativity whatsoever. Anyone can do that.
My point was sex sells, How do we know this? Advertisers are not going to repeatedly waste money on ads that don't work.. Maybe If we were all as smart as you the advertising industy would need come up with a new angle..
I'm readily admitting they have reason to cut corners in this way; as I said, Obama got elected for a reason. If everyone were as smart as I, none of us would exist. Smart people stopped having kids a long time ago
The major hosting business runs on the back of the people who don't know what hosting is but finds the idea of having a website is cool, therefore these ads targetting broad audience are often superficial and purposely lack technicality(boooring). Sex(or the hope of getting laid) is the main reason there are so many "social networks" in the Alexa 100.
