Oops

I ran my old (301 redirected) site through and got:

Results: Your current Google PageRank is 4. Based on our calculations, we predict your future PageRank after the next Google update will be 9, an increase 127.27%

Would be nice but ....

 

I put three sites through, one is going from a PR 5 to a PR 6, next is going from 5 to 10!!!!, next going from 5 to 7. Only the first is possible.

Great idea, I hope you get it working a little better!

You are obviously using some historical data and projecting into the future. I think there are problems with your projection. I have a new site that prior to the last updated had no reported backlinks. With this last updated the backlinks jumped to 60 and the PR to 5. Your forecast has the site going to PR9.

But there is no way that that will happen. You can't predict the future from a single point of data. If you haven't got sufficient history to predict a reasonable trend your tool should report "insufficent data". Rather than predict unattainable results.

Neat concept however. And I'm sure we all appreciate your effort. But it definitely still needs work.

 

compar, dont under estimate your work. you never know - you might be that skilled of an SEO to make it jump from a 5 to a 9.

 

There is no doubt that I am that skilled

But I'm satisfied with the current position of the site and don't plan to do much more work on it. I still say you can't predict the future on only one or two data points.

Now of course you can make a liar out of me if you want to put up another 200 or 300 links to the site. Do you want the URL?

 

believe me, its more then 2 data points. a lot more is going into it.

 

Yeah this doesn't work to well, I don't think my site will be a PR10 next update. Unless IBM decided to go ahead with that link exchange I sent them.

Rusty, I ran it for one site and it said the PR would remain the same but said there was a decrease of 10%. Looks like you are calculating the change on the result (with decimals) and showing the PR as a whole number. Just my guess anyway.

You may wish to point out that out to people, if in fact I have guessed correctly.

Now why is everyone reporting huge increases and not me? Hmmm much work to do...

 

rustybrick, what kind of logarithmic base are you using to extrapolate PR? Even if a site gets 5 times its current links (assuming identical link values), it will only go up 1 PR slot. To go up 2 it would need 25, to go up 3 it would need 125 times the links etc.

Thanks for an awesome "feel-good" tool. Although some predictions seem a little off, (a one page site going from PR5 to PR10) all the others seemed fairly realistic. Will let you know after the next update what came true!!

That was fun! Sort of remided me of the old Magic 8 Ball... You know, you ask it a question and sometimes you are happy with the result, sometimes not happy and in other cases just downright confused.

here is what I got:

My first thought, was, whaaaaa???

but then I figured you got a decmial point in there somewhere.

Hope its not right I am going from a PR5 to a PR4..

 

I just tried out me little up and coming star that I started just over a month ago and it said that I was going to be an 8!!!!

Wowee if that is true I will very much like to buy you a beer

 

The magic works - prediction trend was about right. I tried it with a wide range of sites and when it prdicted no or under 10% movement sites remained on pr when it predicted 10%+ yes these actually gained.

Unfortunately this again shows me that PR is past it's sell by date giving just a good indication if a site has any decent content and some good relations.

On the other hand sites with 5 and 5+ the backlinks from = & -1 pages are now undeniably counted by G.
