So do I ... goes to show two things: Mystikmedia is heavily respected in his fields of expertise because he invests heavily in every project to make it the best it can be - that investment is not just dollars and cents; he is vested 100% of himself, puts his reputation on the line with every project bringing him more experience, more professionalism, more respect .... more support. Not to turn this into a 'we love Chris' thread, because I can name dozens of other DP members that share that top 1% level rating if you will, but we're not talking about them. But, that brings me to the second point. The Power of DigitalPoint - it's a great group of folks from all over, but it's a tough crowd too; when you earn the level of respect that mystikmedia and others have, it's for a reason. There will be naysayers, but for the most part yes. What else is a good directory going to do, but being able to add some degree of authority to a site by having it listed there. Quality directories add links and legitimacy to the sites listed, rarely any tangible traffic, of course you want it to be its best. PageRank for better or worse has become the #1 standard by which a site or page is judged. Obtaining that PR is no small task within itself; doing so indicates a lot of work by the site and confidence in it by others.
The fee for featured seems a little high. I think you can buy a PR6 link if you can spend that much. Or even PR7 in fact..
ya not permanent though. But anyways I think es got his answer this thread does not need to go 3 pages...
Well, when I fist saw the prices on the first post, I thought the directory owner must be crazy. After reading everyones posts and checking out the internal pages, clearly I'm the crazy one. I'm going to pick up two links right now.
I think also that as SEO and the ever-ending struggle to get decent rankings on the SE's becomes more the mainstream, many directories will take advantage of that to charge more for submissions. But if this site has a great rep and proven history....it might be worth it. I wouldn't pay for any links for something small like my blog, but if I had my own personal website....I probably would. But I would be extremely picky about who I gave money to.
Hmm. Actually, are we allowed to have two links in two different categories that point at the same website? Anyone know?
...You'd have to contact the owner of the domain but probably not just by phpld standards. IT will say you submitted link already. I see some posts where delted, I guess its because tehy were going off topic. If you want to post about the directory and not the prices and everything you can go here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=91239&page=4&highlight=alivedirectory.com
It let me do it. I submitted the same site two times to different categories. I dunno if the owner is going to allow it to happen, but phpld let me do it, so we will see.
I don't usually buy links, but I decided to bite this time. I just purchased a link under Science/Environment for my site EnvironmentalChemistry.com. Good luck.
For what it's worth, the domain submission process was very easy, payment was handled by Paypal and my link was added very quickly.
I agree, the sites get accepted very fast. I just bought three links. I usually refuse to buy links from directories but everyone had such good things to say, I figured to take a chance. Hope it goes well!
phpLd has an option, duplicate urls, and it's to the owners discretion if he wants to use it or not. Apparently if you submitte two, he's not using it
Yes, you are. As long as the submissions fit the categories. Internal pages are accepted also on the same basis. You will need to use a (at least slightly) different title for the second one.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm a cheap bastard, or at least frugal. I rarely pay for a link or submission, but when you see a brand new site launch in Oct and five months later it's one of the top rated directories on the Internet, it catches your eye ... it's easy to justify the expense
Chris spends a lot of time and money in building links and promoting his websites. I see his links all over the internet! I think the price is correct.
