To some level they drive fear into the equation (of prices), because of the rough relation between Iran and us. Although I must say that Iraq is in route to producing quite a bit of oil in the near future (something near doubling or tripling)...although with the world's raging demand, who knows if the prices will go down all that much.

Question to you...you don't think oil prices are PRIMARILY controlled domestically do you ie it's not ALL corporation in America or our actions? Just trying to get a feel as to what your perception is....

I'm sure that was part of the equation. Practically I think it's a matter of a few things. I happen to think it has something to do with currency as well ie we want all the opec nations in that region not to switch to the euro currency dramatically, as saddam did right before we attacked him. Such a shift in currency would have dramatic effects on the value of our dollar and potentially the economy of America.

I guess that depends on your standards. I think our foreign policy on Iraq was rather bad in the first place. I think we should have taken out Saddam in the first conflict. Although here's the messy things...what do you do with a vacuum powered region?

This is a follow through game here, and it kind-of shows.

I must note that if there's one thing that I like out of this war it's the end of the oil for food. Billions of dollars are unaccounted for, and quite a bit of it when through a bank that was notorious for being an Al-queda front. Now even if a billion dollars got to them, it would mean they have funding for decade if not more....Iraq was/is a mess in terms of US relations, but nothings going to change that.

Anthony, I am a bit confused, perhaps you can help me. You say that Republicans blew $600 billion on an oil grab...but they will not have any control of the manufacture, processing or sale of this oil. You say Republicans are going to be impeached soon by the American people... but what Republican is going to be called before a Republican Congress to stand trial (that is what impeaching is). I haven't heard anyone but hysterical liberal bloggers that represent about .1% of the population calling for impeachment or anything ridiculous like that. Please think through your statements and self-censor anything that is ridiculous before you publish it for the world and perhaps you will seem less ridiculous.
