Google shows only a few directories in backlinks

I had submitted my fitness blog to nearly a 100 directories, but when I do a ref:mysite search on Google only a few directories are listed:

    SEO executive
    YVIR
    FAT64
    Premium Sites

In backlink watch all the directories are listed and only a few of them are nofollow. Why doesn't Google list all the dofollow directories?

Some may secretly be blacklisted, or google simply hasn't crawled all of the directory categories your site(s) is/are in..

    Hope this clears things up!

    Thanks Chuckun.

Swedal: I paid a guy to do the submissions last year.

Another thing I noticed is that even my blogger profile has a no-follow tag on my own blogs!

there's a tool for firefox called NoDoFollow - it will highlight upon request, all the links on the page, grey for dofollow, and red for nofollow..

    Hope you like it

    This might be your problem.

Did the person actually do the submissions? If so what directories did they submit to? Were they free? If free that explains much.

Keep in mind that Google will only show a very small percentage of your total backlinks. Backlink Watch will show all or most of them as will Yahoo Site Explorer.

Google is only showing a small sample of backlinks and probably a random one!
if you want to see wich backlinks are counted by Google you have to register your site at webmaster tools and then wait and see.

Exactly. Get a webmaster tools account and you'll get a much better idea of which directories Google is counting as a back link.

Its the same old story - I bet you used the same description for each submission - whereupon your link is now duplicate content - meaning the links are worthless - you need to make a uniqe description each time - then the links are seen as genuine votes - not unnatural - then they will show up in backlinks
