. . . i wouldnt count EVERYONE out of the adsense earnings because YOU can not make more than 2000 dollars per month . . . alot of people on DP have done the numbers PLENTY of times when using multiple sites how fast numbers can start to add up . . . once you have "perfected" your website to be an automated money maker . . . you can do again ( hence multiple websites )

SO just because you are not earning that much on the big A doesnt mean EVERYONE isnt . . . take the forum you are posting in right now . . . it may just make over your NOT SO OBTAINABLE MARK . . .

Most people I know personally that have a side business have a day job as a consultant not because they need the money, but more for the fact that they need to interact on a day to day basis and it's great learning on someone's dime not your own.

I wouldn't quit my day job unless that job no longer allowed me an advantage in the marketplace in which my own business runs in.

Plus the fun part is you don't stress anymore at a career you know you can leave anytime you want.

    This is from another post

I started out with adsense, then I tried the other side with adwords w/ clickbank and made some money (couple of bucks a day). Found eBay and failed miserably, and kept going and hit Power Seller. I thought that once I did that I would be well on my way (turns out I wasn't). Lost my Power Seller status after I stopped selling (had to keep cutting prices to the point that it wasn't profitable). I went back to the drawing board and reworked my business approach. I found that by diversifying I was much more successful than I was in any one. Now my wife and I do very well.

Thanks for your input, simply excellent. I think it' important to show a healthy balance of what's important, chasing dollars never works, success is relative to your own perceptions and working hard is part of the deal. Thanks again, insights to live by...

I'd say when you are comfortable, it's all real money, but if you can enjoy it and do it for a living while being comfortable.. that's making real money.

If you can spend it ... it's "real".

Success in my book is defined by having the freedom to live life on your terms, do what you love, and having the time to enjoy your family, friends, hobbies, etc...

If that takes $2,000 per month for you, then you are successful at $2,000 per month.

What is YOUR definition of success?

That's really the only question you need to ask (and answer).

I would say earning a steady 2000 USD a week is a good start.

Not sure if this was a rhetorical question, but I'll answer it anyway.

My definition of success and making "real" money online is when I can cover all of my financial obligations (mortgage, car payments, bills, etc.) and still have disposable income to do what I want to do. For me, this means about $8,000-$10,000 per month (Hey, I live in California, it's expensive out here).

I'm fairly confident I'll get there, but it's going to take some time. In my mind the key is not putting all your eggs in one basket. Diversifying my monthly online income streams is key. Too many people think Adsense is going to make them $20K a month...but they're missing other money making opportunities. Keep an open mind, try different things, be creative and you'll be surprised at how many different ways you can make money online. No shortcuts...just hard work.

It is depend to your own definaion, everyone have different target.
I think earning 1 million per year is big money but Bill Gate definatelly disagree with this
For me, $1000 per month online money is very good

    Uh... "real money"?

$1 is real enough. Or 50 cents. As long as you actually get to move it to your own account it's real.

It's up to the person to define what 'success' means to him.

enough so my husband can retire and finish building my house - so that'd be covering his income - doubled!

BUT I would qualify success at also not having to work a gazzillion hours a day at it like I am now.

Ha Ha, read my blog DavionWong[dot]com and you will understand what is making real money online. Joking.

Everyone has his own definition of making real money online. For some, it is $1k, for others, it is $10K. For me, replacing my day job was the yardstick I used. And I am glad to be making real money online now. ;)

Personally i based it on my earning. If i get paid through my online jobs everyday then that's making money.I guess it's not a matter of the amount but how it continuously comes in your way.
