Article/Bum marketing and no conversions! What am I doing wrong?

I have been trying to make a sell in the weight loss category and it has been my only niche that I have targeted. I have wrote 14 articles but only 9 are live at the moment.

How many should I write before I wonder if I am doing something wrong?

    Here is my landing page:
    http://www.howtoloseweightguide.info/

Here is one of my articles and you can check the rest out by going into my profile.
    http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-Lose-Belly-Fat-Fast!&id=1918702

I have been writing all my articles at just the bare minimum of 250 words.
Am I doing something wrong or not puting enough work into it?
I have not received that much traffic yet, maybe only 50 views on ezine. My site has received less views of course as not all people click out to my landing page.

Should I pick a new niche like green energy?

How long have you been promoting it? It takes a little time until you will see results, and I would recommend you to maybe combine different traffic techniques.
I wouldn't give up on the weight loss category just yet. The time between Christmas and Summer is always the best to promote weight loss websites in my opinion.

write a million articles. Articles have nothing to do with marketing. Marketing is about understanding who your customer is and what they want and how you can provide a solution to their wants. What you have done wrong is you haven't figured that out.

3 articles went up on 1/16/09, 2 went up on 1/29/09 and the rest so far have went up on 1/30/09.
Well what do I need to do to get conversions? I am trying to target my customer?

the weight loss niche is very competitive to get into but it does pay well,
what I would suggest you do to start with is created a squeeze page instead
of a review page and capture email addresses through some incentive.

Then follow up with autoresponder messages giving them free content and then
recommend products to them at least twice per month.

You can easily pick up subscribers by taking part in weight loss forums, groups,
    chatrooms etc.

That is a hard niche. Maybe you should do a review article about a new weight loss product that hasnt had tons of articles written about it.

Work on the signature; don't just list the URL.
Make it in the text like:

Learn how to lose belly fat fast by following this simple guide.

You make it more natural, as it appears to be an extension of the article, rather than spam. Also, you get SEO value from the link.

Article marketing works, but please understand that it takes time. This particular article only has 19 views, so be patient and try to write a couple articles a day.

For decent results, about 30 or so would give you a good idea of the conversion rate.

But, it isn't a "write a certain number and wait" thing; you need to research using keyword tools (making sure you have the top searched keywords in a niche in your title), write compelling articles, word your signature box as natural as possible, and work on your landing page. I see some grammatical errors and the design is not the best.

Keep it up and good luck!

I use google adwords keyword tools for how many searches per month and just for keyword phrases to use. So it does not hurt to write the same title as another marketer did on a ezine article?

If it takes up to 30 or more to get a idea of conversion I am worried too soon in. About how long do you all usually see a conversion once you have 30 or more articles up per niche?

From my experience, I good article will bring in a few hundred views and maybe 10-20 clickthroughs (on average, could be much more or much less). At 30 articles, you would get an average of 300-600 clickthroughs to your landing page. This would allow a good idea of how your page/product converts. In my opinion anyway.....

Keep in mind, you should be able to write a good 250 word article in 20 minutes. At 30, that's only 10 hours. Not much work to possibly make some good money.

edit: Didn't see you were from SC! Where are you from in SC

@MattEvers - hey, great solutions you have there. Thanks for sharing :)

@cowgonemadd - one thing I can add, you should sit down and brainstorm on the articles that you would use for article marketing. You can't write compelling articles if you won't take the time to brainstorm on writing angles, writing style and tone. What is my site about? What can I offer? What will they learn from my site? These are the questions that your articles should hint at when people read your articles. I mentioned 'hint at.' It means that your articles should not answer everything; just answer some and 'tease' the reader for the rest. Your site must have all the answers.

If you're not getting any conversions after a few hundred clicks, I would consider setting up a basic AdSense landing page to make at least a few bucks per day. That's exactly what I did after submitting 50 Bum style articles about weight loss that didn't make me any sales.

We own a dairy farm in Ware Shoals SC about 1.5 hours or so from you. We take cows ready to be beefed to brown packing in Gafney pretty often.

I am not using a site but a landing page. I mean it is a site but it is a review site not a answer site. I was told review sites convert best.

I'd get a niche that is full of desperate buyers! Get away from the ones that the IM'ers talk about.

Do the research yourself and find a little refined niche with people desperate for a solution. It's really easy to do!

I've made a video on how I do it - nothing to sell & no opt-in...

    http://www.newbiesdiary.com/videos/nicheresearchmethods0511/nr-gkt-051108.htm

The success of submitting articles will depend on your niche, your keywords, your product, and the quality of content in your articles.

I would suggest to create a review page with an opt in form to capture your visitors' email address instead of just creating a squeeze page. The former is more effective. I tried it for real estate niche and I got sales even after 1 year!
