Ok, so I have a webmaster forum that get indexed 1st and 5th for the keywords I want. I haven't advertise and link build, anything like that. I don't want to sell it because I could make some good money from this forum. I am getting people register my forum. I haven't even complete making the boards for it. i want to know how should I start it. I don't want to hire forum posters because I don't like the way they post things, people could tell it's fake. I also want a partner, is there anywhere I could look for one? Any tips for me would be great.
Well, it sounds like you're going in the right direction with ranking for keywords. If you have members, you should certainly leverage that user base instead of hiring posters (which is sounds like you're against anyway). You should have their email addresses... why not email once a week with a link to a new, somewhat controversial topic to get the ball rolling? Offer a prize, like free advertising on the site for a week, for the person who posts the 1000th post on the site? Have a refer a friend contest? You could even use the fact you are looking for a partner as a way to generate conversation on your site. You can get a lot of momentum by starting some threads that will appeal to your users. Send them a few emails to get the ball rolling (but don't be spammy of course) and make sure that when others do come in from your keywords there's enough to get them to stay.
I agree contests appear to be very effective in increasing forum participation. You can have one for volume and one for quality - best post of the month type thing.
I'd look at your forum members for a partner - there may be someone there who's more passionate about the topic than the rest, someone who's more active and is really helpful - that could be your partner. Or that person could be made a moderator, who'd then be likely to make more posts.
