An easy way to get backlinks wth submissions

Has anyone used the shareware sites to build backlinks?

You can make a browser and submit it to the shareware, freeware sites and get a load of backlinks.

A lot of peole don't use this approach because it's not easy to make software. But, when you make your own browser it's a lot simpler.

Then, once you have the browser ready, you create a PAD file and submit it to hundreds of sites.

Be sure the site gives you a backlink (unblocked and direct to your website). If they don't, submit an Unauthorized Use letter to Google Adsense to have them remove your browser.

It's a great way to get lots of links fast, build exposure, and get noticed in the search engines.

Sounds like a good way to get backlinks. I wonder if the search engines would frown on this or not. just a question?

Its really a great idea of submitting the site to shareware. We can add nearly 100 backlinks in no time. Its very helpful to increase your backlinks by this

And who is going to download the browser and install it? And how much time will it take to submit to the shareware. And how much traffic will those backlinks generate? And what if there is adware/malware/virus in the software? And what if Google devalues your site by filtering the low quality links or scoring you low because you have so many low quality links.

    Go for it.

I wish you had been here for advice when this project first started. You could have helped save lots of time and energy with your experience on this approach.

You probably have extensive knowledge covering software development, backlinks, shareware sites, SEO, and browser customization.

So, please, share some tips!

    And what if it fails?

People will download it because it's free and it's new. They will also download it if you brand it with your website properly. Say something like,

"if you like this website, try our FREE browser. We offer special content and features to our browser users."

AND... don't offer it as their primary browser. Tell users it is a great secondary browser. Let them know you don't expect them to stop using their current browser. This one is for "special" use.

It will take some time to submit to the shareware sites unless you are willing to pay someone to do it for you.

And, the amount of traffic you get depends on the same thing as SEO ... your niche.

If you target southwestern style cooking recipes, I suppose your traffic will be different from credit repair tips for working mothers.

You take this chance with all software, so I don't see how this is any specific objection when you make your own browser.

    But...

I will make it clearer on the website there is no adware/malware/virus in the software.

Well, I know this isn't true (from my experience) because there are still shareware sites which rank higher than my software product site in Google.

It drives me crazy being outranked for my own software, but it shows the power of the shareware/freeware site links in Google.

    I already have. :p
