Hello everybody. I have built a site around moderately searched keyword terms that have little competition. I am holding on page 2 for most of my keywords and am on page 1 for the others with both Yahoo and Google. Here is the thing, and I guess kind of my question because I am still pretty new to SEO. How the devil do you get other webmasters to exchange links with you? I ask this seriously. I have sent friendly messages to other sites via contact forms on the sites. Some sites have a link exchange set up that clearly states to add a link prior to contacting them and they will give you a link back as soon as they verify that you have added them. Well, I have added their sites, contacted them and out of maybe 20 sites only 1 placed a link back to my site. Should I remove the other sites from my links because they are getting a one way link to their site? Should I contact them again? What is the secret to getting those precious links? Also, how many times is appropriate to use a keyword on the page? I have read that if you overuse the keywords, you can get banned, however, I have noticed that pages on my sites that have about a 50-60% usage of the keyword scores really well for those words? I ask this because I have paid a lot of money for SEO courses and books and they are all very vague.
SEO is a ongoing process and you have to do it manually then only it will works fine. Don't do Link exchange with others. It wont helps you and they will drink your rank juices. Most of the exchangers never exchange the link by ethical way. Do not spend more money on books and courses you can use lots of free resources from websites. Do lots and lots of link building and post more comments in forums and blogs, write some articles.
You sound as if you may have struggled in finding ways to get links. I suggest you take a look into article spinning and submission. I also suggest you read up on some of the more advanced manipulative methods: Try bluehatseo.com and syndk8.net, I think you'll find the free information at those 2 sites far more valuable than any that you've already purchased. As for your question on keyword usage. I don't know what percentage is good, I think you should try varying percentage on lots of sites and observe the results, but only if you've got time of course.
Some years back the keyword percentage rate "allowed" was 7%. I had some really great info on that but since the last HD burn i lost all of favorites. But keep keyword percentage bellow 10%, for sure. Otherwise you'll rank high and then you'll get penalized. Edit: seems that nowadays we should keep Keyword Density bellow 5%. That makes sense. Lots of sites with higher Keyword Density were penalized last months. Do a search for "best Keyword Density" at Google and enjoy the read
Emailing other webmasters is a lot of work for little results and usually ticks them off, every now and then in your regular marketing day if you run across "the perfect site" for a link it may be worth it to write a nice personal letter for a link suggestion, but mass mailing any site is yesterdays game.. Do articles, PR , themed directories and so on...make your site be such an authority that people naturaly link to it...
I don't do link exchages, one way links always work great and it is easy to get one, e.g forum sig, articles submission to major article directories, blog network etc.
Getting one approved link out of 20 is what every one gets. So, to have 100 links, you need to contact 2000 sites. You should contact again when you don't get reply. After that you can remove links of those who don't given you link back and move to next set of sites. Link exchange section under buy / trade /sell section of DP forums is very handy place to find partners and success rate is almost 80% i.e if you contact 10 guys then 8 guys will do exchange. Good luck.
We don't. Reciprocal links are to be avoid in 2009. One way backlinks will give you a much better result. Be smart, practice a lot and eventually you will find a way to build as many backlinks as you need.
When you have some great content you will get people linking to your site. I have a fighting blog and that has so many 1 way links from people linking to my posts..I have never manually got a link but it has loads linking in. Goodluck!
Link exchange isn't really worth all the work. and from what I see through your experience it proves it even more. try to build links through forums and social networking.
supppose a day wher you are on the top for a keyowrd whcih is much more competetive and you get lots of link exchange request, then to how many you will respond.?????/ for your second question, keep a set target of 3-5 % of keyord stuffing in a page........
I have written several articles and have posted them on various article sites, but when I have looked at the links pointing back to my sites, I seldomly see those links. I wasn't really sure what to do. I have had a few sites for 3 years now and haven't achieved a good search engine ranking on many of these sites. I haven't had much luck and certainly the stuff that I have bought was a waste of money. I appreciate all of the comments here and I am certainly going to revamp my strategies for marketing. I am writing more content and trying to get away from using the keywords too much. I have noticed that my sites will rank really well for a short period of time and then they are pushed back in the index. It could be because of my keyword usage. I don't intend to spend anymore money on SEO literature because all of the programs that I have bought into all seem to either contradict themselves or they seem to tell you to do things that will waste time, such as contact other webmasters for link exchange. Thanks again everybody. I am working on a new strategy for getting links and hopefully can get on top of my niches.
Most search engines score only one link from a site....that is why having keyword phrased sig links in forums pointing to the same site is a waste of time, energy, and money for those who pay to do so.... Most of the advice here can also be a waste and have you chasing your tail... Write content for your own site. Keyword density will not get your site lowered or raised. LSI has for the most part reduced the importance of keyword density. Also remember the algorithm consists of over 100 factors of which density is a very small portion. Rankings that fall after being at the top are usually due to new links which effect Google temporarily...but once scored are devalued most likely due to artificial link building...say submitting to 5000 free directories.... Those who can do...those who can't sell SEO software.... Link baiting and buying strategically placed anchor text links works best.
THE problem with doing that hard work manually is that you spend lot of time! I'm afraid that bussy poeple like most of us, just don't have enough time for doing it, so, I think is better, much better, hire someone to do it for us. I mean, you will have toy pay, of course, but it will give you better numbers too. greetings!
