    Hello everybody,

I finished writing a perhaps interesting article about AdSense and the financial crisis. I am mainly focusing on the publishers but also on the advertisers.

Perhaps a good read, especially because all of us should experience a drop in both CTR and CPC.

AdSense publishers in the financial crisis

You could be right but since you have already made it just go ahead and see what going to happen. But if you ask me, you might have found something that a lot of people might be looking for.

Those who are focused only on Adsense could start thinking of decent additional network.

What happens when the economy bounces back? I think there was some imbalance in AdSense in the first place because of explosions of MFA sites. May be this will help put a break on those MFA sites. When the economy comes back, the survivors will reap the benefits.

I suggest you branch out your income sources if you're still just depending on Adsense.

Lately i've been checking low Adsense CPC in every site i own, $0.10 clicks or less. Yet the Adwords campaigns i run for clients in same niche keep the regular CPC of $1...

Looks Google is cutting more of the pie for himself.

Yep, that would definitely be the best solution. Google knows of the problem they aren't dumb. Losing advertisers can collapse their system.

Make sure to keep your ads as relevant as possible by using section targeting and image ads. Don't write any general content, stick to your niche.

Consider getting direct advertisers for your niche.

If only there's a more transparency system. Publishers have the right to know how much is their take.

Guess we can keep on dreaming about that, otherwise Google himself will reveal more than they want to. Maybe its a "financial crisis" move: since they are getting less advertisers/direct adwords income, they cut a bigger piece of the (adsense) pie. Naturally...

Expect all of 2009 to be horrible for Adsense. The worst is yet to come so tighten your belt and get ready. I use both AdSense and AdWords and I have dropped the amount I am willing to pay with AdWords (in Asia) to below 5 cents. Why should I pay more when no one else is?

As far as affiliates, I noticed mine "playing" with my stats page and they did a very poor job of hiding it. So watch your affiliates closely because they are looking at the bottom line just like everyone else. Finding an honest affiliate will only get harder during this economic decline.

Don't expect Google to let us know how much they give to advertisers. I have noticed a lower payout with my link units, and i am starting to drop them to see if this helps. Ad blocks with text have always been my best payouts

If you have a well defined niche and well targeted content with good traffic, it would be more helpful if you could directly sell the space to advertisers yourselves...
Middlemen like big G and affiliates would be holding back a lot of your profits for themselves!
