I bought a domain from an individual in another forum and everything was perfect. But after one week i get this mail from GD .. I spent hours in setting up the domain and i need to face a fu...king problem.. - The domain worth not more than $60 and they are asking me to pay a high price of $75.95 - I contacted the individual but refuse to give support telling me he is not responsible for anything and he is a fair seller. - Why Godaddy took the domain after one week , why not earlier, wasting my time like this. This is amateur not pro. Please tell me , what you would do if you were in my skin.. thanks
It APPEARS that you are the victim of a scam artist. As such, you have NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER concerning the GoDaddy account. If GoDaddy did not get paid for the original account, and their communication with you does say that, they have EVERY RIGHT TO DISABLE THE ACCOUNT UNTIL SOMEONE PAYS FOR IT. If you think the price is too high, take your money and buy one somewhere else.
If you purchased it from the 3rd party, why did Godaddy get involved? I am missing some part here. Did you buy through tdnam? If you bought through Godaddy then of course they can hold the domain for failure to pay.
I think, what he did is buying a domain from user x, user x purchased that domain by a hacked paypal or credit card account.. User x sold the domain to sanil09 and then the original owner of the paypal/creditcard account noticed that there was an unauthorized access to his/her account.. He reported it to paypal/bank, they block the transaction and after that godaddy send that message so godaddy didn't steal your domain! that user x is a scammer.. Be careful on cheap domain offerings.. please EXPOSE that SCAMMER HERE by giving the details, if it's on DigitalPoint or DNForum or NamePros ...
there is only one thing you can do! Pay the $75.95 and get the domain, but I believe that domain would not worth that much, so you would better purchase a new domain. There is nothing more you can do!
whoever sold u the domain, used some dirty tricks to renew. Godaddy isnt the scammer here. However there is no way that u can get hold of the domain back by not paying godaddy their share. the domain would be on hold and purged sometime between now and three months.
Yea, I think you just get scam. This is one things that people should aware when buying domains from unknown people. Another thing that make me scare to buy a domain name from other people
This is why I am afraid to buy a new domain. many scammers and little person to trust. I will need someone who i really trust to buy a domain. i hope I do not get this experience. thank you for the information. I am so sorry for that.
I'm curious as how often this sh*t happens. I have only bought new domains, but in the event someone has a domain i want, will I have to be nervous about it?
okay this is what happened: sanil bought the domain from the original owner and a week later he got the email posted. basically what it means that the original owner used a credit card that was invalid in order to renew the domain therefore when it was time to renew GoDaddy didn't get their money and took the domain back obviously not caring the situation but just took it back so now the only way for sanil to get it is to pay $76 which is ridiculous. Unless the domain is in demand and people will buy it I say you either backorder it for $18 or wait a month til it expires and just buy it again at regular price because $76 is ridiculous
Set up a domain sniping account and put this domain in your watchlist. The domain will become available again in 90 days from the date of cancellation. Expect to spend about $20 on this method. Unless someone else out there has this domain scheduled for domain sniping you are 99% guaranteed to get the domain.
On a related theme, I have been nearly caught by godaddy buying tdnam domains. I buy heaps of them and one day I notice there is a domain in there for like 4,000 or some huge amount (indicating that I bought it!!), so after getting up off the floor, I emailed them to say, I did not buy it. After a while I got a response to say "it's in your account so you bought it, you have to pay, blah, blah" I was starting to panic a bit at this point and decided to keep calm and phone them (I am in Australia). So I calmly explain to the operator, and they keep saying I bought it. Then (still calmly) I mention I did not buy it, and I can they show me the logs and IP address showing I logged in and bought. They came back and said yes the logs show you bought it (not what I asked). So then I asked, "show me the logs confirming I bought it". After a while they come back and say we will let you off this time and cancel the bid. Hmmmm very suspicious! So I did not have to pay for it. Interestingly enough about 5 months after this another person I know was in the same dilemma (being accused of buying it when he did not place the bid). He was not calm though, and they were saying bad luck. Until I told him about asking for the logs, and they let him off too! Just a warning for others, and if this does happen, just ask for the logs like we did and you will probably get out of it. Cheers Louise
