    Hi

I have just read somewhere, a post on here that states you are allowed to copy the whole article from an article directory and host it on your own blog.. And you wont get into trouble for it?

Is that true? But what about google duplicate law?? Please let me know.

    Thanks.

You are allowed to use duplicate content, but it won't help you much. When you use duplicate content the search engines often attempt to determine the original source. They might not index any of the pages who copied the content. You will be much more successful if you concentrate on providing quality unique content instead. If you use too much duplicate content the search engines may penalize your website.

I think a lot of people copy content, but if you reword it a degree with different keywords it might rank high on those different keywords.

How long before every possible keyword and long tail phrase has 100+ articles and the process becomes diluted to obtain traffic?

How will Google search results look if the 1st 10 links on a keyword search were to articles with the same content altered slightly?

I think you read my post. ;)

And yes, I stick by it.

Depending on the overall quality of your website, duplicate articles won't matter THAT much, it is always good to insert a few snippets of unique content here and there.

I have a few RSS feed pulling websites, which is basically just duplicate content, but they get a few hundred visitors from google each month.
    So?

There is no duplicate content law regardless of what some people think.

Your site will not be penalised for it but the duplicate content will not rank as well as unique contnt.

I agree with those that say there is no duplicate content "law", heh.

However, I disagree that a syndicated article would rank worse than some sort of
text that you create yourself, UNLESS, the original article that you are syndicating
is already ranking for your keywords.

Google is not going to discredit your page for syndicating an article just because that
same article exists somewhere else in 20 billion pages online.

I just don't get it why people are still fighting over this stuff when the only solution to this is write what's in your head if you want to improve your search engine ranking.

So if you want to paste free articles in your site, go ahead. You very well know its effect on your site. It's not that Google wouldn't index you. In fact, it's not much about Google; it is about your relationship with your readers. If your contents are just copies of work of others or mere rewrites, then you won't achieve the 'following' that you would so desire.

It all boils down to what image you want your site to project If it's just another made for adsense site, then worry not on the getting indexed part for you'll definitely get indexed even if your contents are filled with ezine articles and rewritten contents.
