Hey guyz, I have a directory bidfortraffic.co.uk, and it's a bidding directory. I purchased the script for it. I don't know how to install the script on it. I can install the script on normal html website like http://thewebsol.org. But have no clue about these direcotries. Thanks in advance
There should be a template or theme directory from which you will get all the templates. Just add the Google Analytics code bofore </body> tag in the footer template. Kailash
Thank you for the help, I know how to install but where the index page is that's the problem, i have checked all index pages in it but they have nothing to edit. I want to know how to edit the page... Thanks
if i add google analytics in my pages i will cause any load in script(it wil take few extra time to load?)
The source code of your template files is what you should be editing. PM me if you have questions about how to find the right file.
Look at the source code for include statements which point to the template file, or can you tell us which script you are using?
Hello guyz i have put this code at my home page but it's still not showing tracking. It's still showing N/A. Could anyone let me know, is it the right way to put code in Bidding Directory... I have put this in http://bidfortraffic.co.uk Thanks M. Amir <script type="text/javascript"> var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www."); document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E")); </script> <script type="text/javascript"> try { var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-6921768-1"); pageTracker._trackPageview(); } catch(err) </script>
Register yourself with GA and add your website. It will provide you a GA code. Put that code on your all pages just before the </body> tag..
You said that you have pasted the code, but I don't see Google Analytics code at your directory. Where did u install it?
nope, it has to be put inside the <body> tag. In fact, google suggests to put it before the end of body tag </body> , that is , the end of page.
Basically the tracking will normally still work even if it is placed within the <head> tags but if there is an error with the script (or the GA server drops out) this can stop your page loading. This is why Google suggest placing the code just before the </body> tag - ensuring the page will be loaded even if there is a script problem. Best practice is to follow the Google guidelines!
dont use Google Analytics im telling you before you do... go with statcounter.com it is free and better
