Im fairly new and have been reading up on Domain scams and have just received this e-mail recently: Hello, My name is Jeffrey Burnstein and I'm very interested in your domain. Investing in domains is a profitable business. Please let me know your price for the domain in the subject line. If you have other good names just send me the list with prices. Looking forward to do business with you. Regards, Jeffrey Burnstein CEO OBS LLC What do you guys think???
Nah, done a bit of homework and sounds like the good old APPRAISAL scam where they try sell you an appraisal but dont make an offer for your domain, I just replied simply with a subtle "F**k off im not stupid" lol.
I really don't see how one can get scammed simply by stating a price for their domain. Of course, if the other party responds asking you to get your domain appraised at a certain site, that may be an attempt to scam, but that's not what the email said in this case.
This line sounds fishy to me... "Investing in domains is a profitable business." They will more then likely say you are asking too much and to get the domain name appraised with their company (of course not saying its them) IMO don't waste your time.
I think is better to check than to guess. Search for name and company. Look from e-mail. See message header. Search net for exact phrases from your mail, if is scam, you are probablly not the only one who received it.
Maybe is real buyer and he could miss a good chance to sell. Every wise trader in the world will use "fishy" phrases. Insead of guessing, it is very easy to check.
Scams and viruses are made for people who are not careful enough. If you follow basic logic u can hardly get scammed. I'd agree to appraise my domain at specified company but id certainly not pay for that. I will pay companies I trust. If they trust that company is ok that they pay for it. At last, they want that appraisal, not me. I know how much I want for my domains.
Lol It was probably a legit offer. What's the problem of asking you a price? You reply, If they want an appraisal tell them to do the appraisal themselves.
Your post is a spam wich still don't show anyting to us and btw, your Jeffrey has different surname. I see very unresponsable giving such advices when you are not sure. He might be loosing a real buyer because of briliant forum advices.
