Well, i am from Jamshedpur and without doubt it is one among the famous places in India. XLRI, a top notch b-school, is located in Jamshedpur. NIT-Jamshedpur, a well known national level engg. institute is in Jamshedpur. Tata Steel (formerly TISCO) is here in Jamshedpur. Tata Motors (formerly TELCO) is again here in Jamshedpur. Priyanka Chopra and Tanushree Dutta are related to Jamshedpur. ..and the last but not the least, I am from Jamshedpur.
Our town was made famous by Animal rights protesters. Our tows port was used to ferry livestock overseas in quite an inhumane way, Our town was on the TV most nights for nearly a year. We had riot police and allsorts.
My Hometown in Penang Island, Malaysia.. Famous for nothing! hehehe... The Fact is Penang Island famous with it's "Nasi Kandar" or "Beriyani", It's cooked by India Muslim people, we called them "Mamak" here. Most of them are origins from India.. My hometown.....well theres a famous clip from a CCTV camera behind a nightclub and......no nevermind . We have a great soccer team, we have a history of ship building and mining, we have a few famous people that came from here and well, I like it so its famous to me anyway .
