Sorry if this may sound trivial, but I was just wondering, has anybody ever encountered this before? I am taking a look at my report for today, and it says here that I got one click, but the earnings are $0.00 ... ??

Yep it sometimes happens. Maybe it could be due to smart pricing as well??

Anyway I wouldn't worry about it. Concentrate on building traffic to your site and increasing CTR! :D

Well that is assuming you only got 1 click so far today :)

thanks! I do wonder, though, why is that? Any idea? I mean, isnt this a CPC? I cant believe that google will charge an advertiser 0 cents for a click. Or is that simply a case of me only not getting paid, or getting a cut of what google gets? (ie. google gets paid, but somehow google didnt think to give me a share of that profit...)

I have no idea why it's 0c... Maybe the ad was on a topic with low competition and it was well optimised meaning the advertiser was charged a tiny amount which Google took.

Blah - I'm probably talking cr@p so I'll leave this question for a more knowledgable person to answer! :D

Don't worry about it - it takes time to build up clicks and therefore earnings.

Just as an example here's the earnings chart of my site - the part in the middle where the earnings are highers is where I was using CPC advertising, the recent increase is due to advert optimization...

The earnings themselves aren't very impressive so I took them out - lol :D

ok, thanks! But just one question - if the middle was great due to CPC, why didnt you carry on with it?

That's just the earnings - there were costs associated with the CPC ads and it actually turned out that I wasn't making that much more when the costs were taken away from the earnings.

Plus the fact that I'd rather cut out cost all together if I can help it - it's just another unknown variable I don't wana deal with :)

Interesting thing is the CTR increased to above 10% when I used CPC...

At the moment I only use CPC ads to product related pages and I put a value low budget limit on it. That site is mainly informational so CPC doesn't provide much use for me...

surely because it costed more than what he was earning.

Here's a possible explanation for your one click:
if you were displaying CPM ads (advertiser pays for one thousand impression, let's say 0.5$ per 1000 impressions) and you got one click out of 10 impressions, then you earn close to nothing = 10 is 1% of 1000 so 1% of 0.5$ is 0.005 and google show only from 0.01

That was an explanation hahaha, try to get 20 impressions :)

The extra earnings from the CPC was basically exactly the same as the extra revenue, hence why I stopped :)

If you got a 0 cent click, it usually means:

    A) the click was invalid and has been discounted by google, (don't worry, it's normal from time to time) or
    B) The click was on a non-paying PSA, or
    C) the click was on a CPM ad - if it is a CPM ad, you may see a value under the eCPM column but not under the earnings if you haven't displayed enough ads to earn anything over 1 cent yet :) Hope this helps!

yes!! that helped all right, thanks... :) And yes, I do see something under the eCPM, so I guess that must have been a CPM ad...

I've been experiencing $0.00 earnings for clicks as well...and can't figure it out. The ads that appear on my site look to be of high quality...focused on marketing and advertising.

Everybody who starts a site from scratch will have to go through this phase. Especially right after you get AdSense and expect to make even the slightest amount in the very first day or couple days. It takes a lot more work than just putting your ads up there, and just keep trying to get more traffic and maybe you'll start to get some $0.01 clicks!
