I made a site devoted to the latest technology that was coming out, posted about 4/5 posts a day on this site, put some Adsense/CPA stuff on there, posted a little on CL and forums, and BOOM!! The site went from PR0 to a PR4 in a matter of 30 days?!?!.... I don't understand?!?! the traffic isn't any different, I just have a higher PR?? What's the point of PR??
PR does not translate into traffic. When people talk about PR updates they are usually referring to the toolbar PR updating. The actual PR is constantly updating. The toolbar PR doesn't have anything to do with rankings. PR is just a way for people to judge the approximate strength of a website.
PR is depend on how many backlink you have, the more quality backlink you have, then higher PR you gain. It is not related with traffic
If you and your competitors have similar rankings for certain keywords in the search engines, typically if you can beat your competitors PR, you will outrank them... However, this does not mean that you will have first page rankings for the keywords.
One of major PR factor is the content, google probably see you content as important and being ranked well.
Hi! I have a digital camera site. I had PR4 but in octobar google deceided to destroy it to PR3. I have much more traffic now than before! My traffic before octobar was: average 700 visits/day Afetr octobar: average 1100 visits/day Conclusion: If you want to sell links on your site, than PR is very important, but if you want big traffic, than leave PR alone!
if have quality BL and content PR3 is not big thing....in December last PR updated and after did't..So when u got PR3...
Exactly, because pages with lower PR beat out sites with higher PR all the time as far as traffic goes.
Google sometimes starts sites with a high PR and then lowers them as the time goes on. I had that happen to me a few times already.
PR is not related to traffic at all, this is a very common misconception. I personally do not care about PR, as you can see a PR4 site can get very little traffic, and a PR2 can hold top positions in SERP(s). Page Rank is basically a number that shows your "link juice". When getting links, i ignore PR. I go by real factors, like your SERP(s), the quality of content, being on topic with my content, etc. Anyway just my 2c. P.S. the importance of PR -- A higher PR will allow you to show up higher on certain paid and free directories, if they are sorted by PR, which many are. Being higher on the page or being on the first page if multiple pages = better. Some people will only link with you if you have high PR. Some of the higher quality lik trading / 3 way link trading sites, requires a certain PR to gain membership. I am sure there are more if you think outside the box.
PR basically tell you how many quality backlinks you have . For example if 10 quailty website have linked to you google bot calculates it and award you page rank .It has nothing to do with traffic .Its the google way to check quality of website.
I've been having the same thing happening to my sites. It seems like a quick rush to the PR4 mark and then it's slowly downhill from there. I can never seem to break that PR5 barrier no matter how many links I build. Funny thing, my traffic has been staying the same on most of my sites for almost a year now. I can never seem to get more traffic no matter how much I promote or link my site.
