You windows users haven't ever really experienced speed, freedom, or true security. Download a Kubuntu livecd (more windows-like in how it feels), and just try it out, and do yourself a favor. Get the kde3 version for more windows 9x/xp looking stuff, or kde4 (not quite there yet, but it's better than vista). It will run slow off of the CD live, but if you partition and install it, you will experience unprecedented performance that you didn't even know your computer had. http://www.kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/download
What about drivers ? I mean .. video card, sound card, wireless network, etc. ? Similar to Ubuntu - comes with an update ?
It's OS X for me. Not at all complicated and very easy to learn compared to XP. I love XP though because it's been my OS for like years already and i can't imagine myself with just the OS X.
Microsoft hasnt' given us a good reason to dump XP except for the fact that it's going to stop supporting it. Unless something in the underlying software architecture can be changed to make it less susceptible to viruses/malware, I don't see a single reason why the software needs to be updated. It surfs, runs vital programs and plays games. What else could you possibly need? Vista was a joke. RIP.
They all come with it...it's built in. And it should autodetect all of them, unless your on experimental/brand new unseen until now hardware. The kernel detects what you need and loads the modules (aka drivers) for your devices. Pretty sweet, really.
Windows XP for sure. I think Microsoft knows it took too long to get Vista out the door, and it doesn't have any improvements over XP. XP is so firmly entrenched that most people will just wait until support is pulled before moving on, which for most people will be to Win7.
Definitely NO ! Yeah, I forgot to add it, however - Vista is the same as XP .. What's the difference ? More graphics, etc. - functions are the same !
Why is there no Windows Vista in the list? I wanted to vote for that one. I know people moan about Vista a lot, but I have learned to love it. I use the edited TinY Vista (650Mb CD) and it works just as well as XP with all the rubbish removed. I have tried Windows 7 too and that looks even better.
My favorite OS is not listed in the Poll Options . My fav OS is DOS. White text in black backgound indeed makes it classic. And what to say about the commands, I'm loving it .
