Hi folks, I am about to start an online business, but I reside in the Czech Republic (neighbour of Germany). PayPal is newly available here, but to SEND MONEY ONLY. My requirements on the payment gateway are: - accepts major credit cards (at least VISA and MasterCard) - NO REGISTRATION for clients neccessary (like at MoneyBookers) - good service quality (e.g. good support available) - ideally recurring payments support I found only 2checkout filling these needs (although bas support was reported) as the search on this subject is rather hard. Can anyone suggest a service? What about not very well known alternatives to 2CO like monstermerchantaccount.com epay.vg pago-international.com or Charge.Com asot-pay.com PayLane.com merchantexpress.com multicards.com etc? Are they worht trying? A read many negative reviews about 2CO, but do you think it is the best when PayPal is not available? Can anyone advise please? Thank you!
Hm, I've read some very negative things about 2CO on other webmaster forum, but the folks complaining there seemed not to be very clean (in the terms of legality) ... However, I just read pretty new and positive 2CO thread overhere at DP... It is pitty because the little negative about them makes overall negative image...
There's always a downside and upside in everything, overall the time, I have no problem with them, I will not pay worldpay $1000++ for accepting credit cards, it's expensive, about paypal, we have hear so many negative comments about them, but ppl still using it, cause they see the upside in it, so you choose
Your options are going to be an offshore merchant account, a local bank, or 2checkout or another 3rd party processor. As far as fees go, they are all in the same area. 2checkout is going to be the lowest cost to setup. Once you establish some decent volume, you may want to switch to an offshore merchant account. Most of the companies you listed can only handle domestic (US Based) merchant accounts. Personally I would recommend starting with 2checkout or another 3rd party processor.
Hm, I find it pretty hard in terms of finding any valuable information on the problem I've listed, so thanks for your insights. I guess I will go first with 2CO. However, I almost boutht a payment gateway from a local Czech bank today - their solution is a kind of obsolete though and accepts only VISA and MasterCard (Electron versions included). Their gateway form contains only 3 fields - CC #, Expiration date and the control digit. As I know US guys are used to provide the billing addresses too, I guess they could scare away and might find it uncommon > insecure. Would you find it strange to provide only the 3 fields when using that bank's gateway?
i have an account with 2co - haven't had problems with them at all... it was a little difficult when they migrated to version 2 but everything's fine now... i guess you'll always find people who will complain and should take everything with a pinch of salt...
AVS (verifying the billing address) is something that is supported only by US banks, which is why the bank you are talking to doesn't. It doesn't sound impossible to see only three fields, but, I think you would be taking some high risks for accepting fraudulent credit card orders. If you do decide to go with them, I would highly recommend implementing some sort of fraud prevention measures. You could be a huge target for card testing, and some other forms of fraud, if you don't protect your processing scripts.
Hm, that didnt come to my mind so far. Do you think opening the payment gateway access only to the folks who registered at my shop (email verification neccessary) would not be enough? Hm, thats true that I can still imagine someone registering only for misusing my gateway... What sucks me at the 2CO gateway form is the necessity of providing an email address again... Edit: I started another thread with the local bank's gateway image. Would appreciate any opinions. Thanx!
Well, finally I got 2CO. They seem to be not the best with customer support but the company is of a good quality.
