This is new to me but maybe I just never noticed before but I've never seen googlecom.com before - is it new? Lisa ok, edit... I know it's a search engine and I know it's google - just never saw it like that before.
http://googleco.com/ Looks like they missed the one above! This guy has three different pages, the landing page revolved for me at least three times, a different page each time I landed on the same domain!
googlecom.com wanted me to install a little .exe to "make google my default search engine", seemed a little suspicious to me. I don't remember seeing that before on google.com. Eric
They buy domains that are similar to their own so if people type the address wrong and end up at a site that isn't owned by google, that site can't pretend to be google and wreck their reputation... Kinda thing.
Well, either way they can "recover" these domains via WIPO, but that is costly and timely. Much cheaper & easier to buy similar domains in bulk
And almost immediately get a lawsuit from Google for copyright infringement xP (like the dood that had AOL in his url).
