How to buy products from eBay?

I need some advice on how to buy products from eBay. I'll buy products from the affiliate link of the person who gives best suggestions :D. Though, please be honest.

First thing. I don't know the seller who sell products at eBay. When I meet the seller personally and buy products, I use to check the product thoroughly whether the product is good. How can I check that here in eBay? It's internet world.

All the products listed in eBay are fresh products and not second hands? While searching for products, in advanced search I wasn't able to see an option like "Filter second hands". So raising this doubt.

you can consider sellers with power seller status and check their feedbacks there
not all ebay items are new, some are used stuff. you can specify this in 'refine search' tab.

That should be noted in the first part of the description, there are several fields that the seller fills out, and it should say if the item is new or used. Also, I would check the seller feedback very carefully. That should give a good indication as to whether or not you can trust them...

I know we can check the reliability of the seller. But the product they sell may be damage even without their knowledge. I suppose, it is just better to roam around and buy products personally than from eBay.

I buy a lot of stuff off ebay. I can usually get a much better deal from ebay than "roaming around". I use PayPal, and if the item is damaged, I send it back to the seller and get my money back. I have never lost any more than shipping charges, and that is why I don't buy anything with excessive shipping charges. It sounds like you have already made up your mind not to buy anything off eBay, which makes me wonder why you started this thread.

I had written an article on buying on eBay several years ago; with the changes eBay has made as of late, some of it is no longer valid, but you can still reference if you like: http://aninstantintime.com/articles/buyers.html

One of the things to do is to check out the seller's other items they are selling. If they regularly carry that type of merchandise, they are probably quite familiar with it. I would buy radios on eBay, and had a few sellers I would check out as they regularly offered such items and were more familiar with the electronics than I was.

Don't just look at the feedback score, and feedback on eBay hasn't meant much for quite a few years now. Look at the seller's items they are carrying and go through the feedback, for at least a few months, to see the items for which feedback was being left. You can get an idea of how familiar they are with the particular item, or type of items, in which you are interested.

Buying on e-bay is fun. One of the problems you might run into is a re-seller in that case you might not get your item for 4-6 weeks which can be a bummer. Another thing is if there are more than a few people bidding on an item you want, watch it down to the last few seconds cutting it as close as you can making sure you haven't been outbid. I've done that and it can be disappointing if its something you really want and you don't win it.

I been buying and selling on eBay for over 10 years. Mostly just buying now as I have a new business. Bought about 6 sets of golf clubs, 2 cars, 2 new guitars, fishing stuff, computer, laser printer supplies, shoes, pens, PDA, jewelry and most everything I own. Even gifts for people. If you are buying and looking for the best price. 1st do as much searching using various keywords of the item which may bring up a seller selling the item at a low starting bid but mis-spelled the title. Also if the seller is seller the same item has has done so in the past, you can check his feedback rating and view what prices was paid for the same item. This way you can check the lowest bid won and somehow get the seller to sell to you without bidding at all. Make sure you also check the sellers feedback and also shipping charges which may vary depending on location. If your item is small and heavy the seller may charge you by weight what is quoted on the USPS website. You can ask if he/she is willing to bring the shipping charges down and send by USPS Flat Rate which comes out to about $10-11 instead of $50 or so if it was really heavy and small. If an item you see has a starting bid of really low and something does not look right, you should email the seller and ask a few questions about the item. Many times fraud people steal ebay seller identities and use there ebay names as the seller and request for payment to be made to another Paypal email address other then on what the original seller inputed when he joined. You will usually see this in the description of the item saying to email all questions to this email address as my ebay address is acting up or not working. RED FLAG all the way. Most sellers are good and honest. Paypal also offers a guarantee to verified Paypal members. Good to check that out as well. I hope this helps. Danoz808...
